Hi

What size diesel generators do those Traffic Arrow boards and construction light trailers use.

Took a peak at one recently - 3 cylinder diesel - water cooled and what looked like a VERY large generator head? - couldn't find the HP or KW.

Are these good candidates for Bus conversion ??

Is anyone familiar with these units -

I see them listed in salvage auctions all the time ??

Pete, most of those are 3.5 to 4 kw another good candidate for a generator is the portable light stands they are from 4kw to 7kw and can be bought from rental stores with 2 or 3 thousand hr for around 2 grand I bought 4 last year for 2300.00 for the lot from a sale at RSC 3 with Kubtoa engines and 1 with a Cat Hp rating was from 18hp to 23hp FWIW the sound level on those units are very low measured at 29 ft from the unit in case some are worried about the noise level don't want to disturb the wild life in the northwest do we good luck

Pete, check out the wiring diagram to see if they are reconnectable, if not low voltage (110/130). I've seen some that were 575 volt, etc.

Most message board gens are one cylinder Diesels with a 12v alternator just to charge the 2 or 3 deep cycle batteries. If it does have a 3 cylinder and a large alternator, just check the alternator plate for output. I would suggest at least 7kw @120vac. Good Luck, TomC
