For many folks having some idea of the amount of water still left in the tank is needed. While a gage could be installed , or a sight glass fitted , there is an easier way. Purchase an engine hour meter and install it so it only counts the time the FW pump is operating. NO its not 1000% accurate but if it took X hours to empty the tank last time , it is close enough to let you about when your about to run dry. I have not found resetable hour meters , so you would need to keep a water log, when your concerned enough to care. FAST FRED |

Fred I have plastic tanks and I used the Aluminun strips on my tanks for the level gages. They work great and no books to keep. They will not work on metal tanks. |

I have plastic tanks in Our Eagle and I copied from Jack Conrad's MCI and installed them in a plywood box that has a vertical slot cut into it on the visible side to show the water level in the tank. Hard at times to see but it DOES work! Cheap to make too! Ace |

Stick a flashlight up to the slot and it will make the water level easier to see. Works when the tank isn't in a box too. Dale |

Dale, I have used the light trick in the past and only thing I will say is, it's hard to see at times but it does work! I think I already said that! Ace |

I am using the light method. But I have rigged the light BEHIND the tank so it shines thru the water. You can see the water level clear as day thru the plastic tank. But my tank is inside the bus under the bed - an outdoor tank might not be as easy to see. Rigging a momentary switch on the light is the next step. Scott |

Hey Fred; I would have never guessed to use an expensive engine hour gage as an indirect water pump volume gage. How do you come up with these neat ideas? The method planned to be employeed was to simply unscrew a cap on the top of the tanks (inside the closets) and use a broom handle as a dip stick. Only problem would have been do I stick the black tank first or the water tank? Lets see, if I stick the black tank first to see how full it is... ....then stick the water tank to see how full it is, then the water tank water will have a ....... taste to it? He, he, he. Thank you Fred. Henry |

Sorry, I do not live in one of those treehouses--yet. However, am currently camping out in my stripped 1974 Crown Super Coach shell awaiting my house selling soosss I can $do$ the conversion. But, with the Crown I can do that classic 30 minute boggie since we are all still on a 30 minute evack notice because of the Florence OR fire. If you see a big yellow and white Banana Boat roaring down the highway at Warp 8 it may be me bugging out to safer environs. He he he, I love a good escape vehicle! Good luck. Henry |
