My power steering pump seems to have some slop in the steering at the center position. It has a bit of a "bump" at that point every time the steering wheel is turned past the center position. I feel it each time it passes that position when turning out of a corner both left or right. I check all the linkages below the pump, and all seems tight. The "bump" comes from the pump itself. I took the steering column off and grabbed the spline with vise grips and can feel the bump. Any suggestions as to a fix?? I don't know what brand I have without pulling all the covers off. It's on a 1985 Eagle 10 Thanks, David Anderson |

In an attempt to remove some slop in the steering box, someone may have adjusted the pinion bolt too tight so the pinion binds against the worm gear. They are ground with increasing clearance the further away from center it gets. Try backing off the adjustment bolt 1/8 turn and see if that helps. The bolt is located on the other side of where the drag link connects, perpinducular to the steering column. Jim |

Thanks, Jim I'll take a look at it and see if I can figure it out. I don't think there is much identification in the Eagle manual other than the grease fitting locations. I'll let you know what I can find. David Anderson |
