The transmission in our MC1 had seen better days when I got it home. It was decided that substituting a 6 speed I had bought from Mark Renner would be a good logical upgrade. Most pieces came along slowly except for that elusive remote shifter which did not want to make its appearance.
I thought perhaps plan B of going with a 644 might be the answer except for being short about an inch for installation. I did wake up one night in the middle of the night and had one of those Eureka moments which would solve that problem.
Started dealing with Roger Baughman, but then the crazy currency game got in between. Overnite the cost changes by 5% and perhaps no end in sight.

About that time a local Ritchie Bross auction listed a dozen Prevost XL's. Checked it out and sure enough there are 11 shifters that I only needed one of.
The auction came and lo and behold I did not only buy one, but I bought two. Not only the shifters but also the busses they were attached to the shifters. Both non runners, but that day as the saying goes "the price was right"
Needless to say I am the talk of the neighbourhood, but that is the reason why we call us what we do.
