Hey all, Well I finally fullfilled a dream. Making it to Arcadia and seeing all the cool conversions. First let me say Thank You to jack and his wife for all their efforts in putting the event togeather. From the looks of things it must be no easy task. My "Crown" I call the "Bywaylady" gave me 3,128 trouble free miles. I really do love her and want to say thank you to all the well wishers and their compliments. I was blown away by all the people who took the time to ask questions about my baby. To all the people in the back row (gens 24/7) a special thank you for making myself and my sons feel so welcome. God willing I'll make it again next year. Oh Yeah, Fred, where were you I was especially looking forward to seeing you! |

Doug, I was not "there", in Arcadia,...but you are to be congratulated for what you have done with your Crown... and in between, the service you gave to this great country in Iraq. Enjoy your coach and your time working on it. FWIW and Happy New Year!! RCB |

I remember the time we were at the Arcadia Ralley in our old 48 Gm backed up to the fence and on the other side of the fence was a nice Prevost and both of us were named David Evans and our wives names were close too! Dorothy and Dorothea! And he seemed like a great guy and they loved our bus as much as we loved theirs! Thats my second favorite Arcadia memory! |

Doug, Glad you enjoyed the rally. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to stop by your coach for a "full tour", just the quick glance when you arrived. Jack |

Bob of the North a nice guy from Canada took these pics of Bussin 08 and posted the link on the MAK board. Enjoy and it's the most recent rally, not rallies of past! There are also pics of his most recent rebuild that had to be done on his coach during his trip going south that was done at Luke's! Ace http://www.rjevans.org/MiscPhotos/Arcadia2009.html |

Ace wrote: "Bob of the North a nice guy from Canada took these pics of Bussin 08" Thanks, Ace. I'll get there one of these years (like I'll get my bus finished one of these years). What great looking buses. But why were they grouped in clumps with big open areas around them???? |

because guys with buses like yourself chose not to show up! Seriously though, they are parked according to what their needs are such as gen 24/7, no gen, electric, handicapped, etc,! Ace |

LOL Hey I@N, Susan still to this day tells the story at the rallies about the time I was banned here and signed on as her and guys were asking her to ask me stuff while I was "OUT" working on the bus when all the time it was me using her name. The funny part was when we went to a rally, I had to educate her on what "SHE" said if she were asked! No she wasn't a happy camper about that scenario but now when she tells it to her friends, it's good for a laugh! She's always asked how she can put up with the crap I do? Don't ask me! I don't even know! Ace |

"But why were they grouped in clumps with big open areas around them????" Bruce, As Ace mentioned, the coaches are parked based on needs. We put those wanting to run generators 24/7 a little further from everyone else so their generators do not bother those who do not run generators 24/7. Would you want a generator running all night next to your coach? We also split the coaches into groups with and without vertical stacks. We don't feel it is fair to park a coach without a vertical stack next to someone who took the time to add a vertical stack to their generator. Those wanting electric, water, and sewer connection park where these are available and we try to park handicap as close as possible taking into consideration the above factors. The last parking area is what we refer to as the Bluegrass area. This area is for those that want to get together to pick. Although it is sometimes difficult, we try to keep everyone happy. |

Jack wrote: "the coaches are parked based on needs." Thank you, Jack. All that appears perfectly sensible to me -- but I've never been to an event like this or even ever parked in a public campground (and part of that ignorance was that I didn't even imagine that anyone would want to run a generator when electric was available). I knew that there was a reasonable explanation, and I just wanted to know what it was. Once I wrote my question, I looked back and wondered if anyone would think that I was being a smart-a$, but that wasn't my intent at all -- I asked to increase my knowledge about the way that campgrounds/bus gathering areas work. And your response (and Ace's) provided very helpful info for me. (And I'm guessing that people who want to run generators 24/7 would want a parking unit with water/sewer but not plug into the electric, right? So, nobody at this event or one like it "dry-camps"?) Thank you. Hoping to join you (and be on the road one day) soon. BH, NC (Message edited by oonrahnjay on January 10, 2009) |

Bruce, We have about 45 electric sites on the east side of the chain link fence. All other sites are dry camping (hence the generator usage). The County sets the camping rates which are $5 per day to dry camp and $25 per day for hook-ups. Since everyone does not arrive the same day and some stay longer than others, as well as the different camping rates, that is why the camping is not included in the rally fee. We are already planning Bussin 10 and it will be from December 29 through January 1, 2010 with early arrivals OK beginning on December 26. Maybe, ya'll can join us. Jack |

Thanks for the additional info, Jack. Unless my 101K turns back into a 401K, I'm afraid that it's going to be 2010/11 but if I'm on the road, I'll look forward to being there 09/10. After all, I'm about "1/3 of the way there" compared to a New Englander! |

So, nobody at this event or one like it "dry-camps"?) A camper set up to dry camp WITHOUT the need for a genset can be done (we do it), but most folks the requirements are either too severe (electric consumption and water use) or expensive , large solar array, propane fridge ($$$) and range . Many folks can get by with a day or two free from the Power Pole or noisemaker , but to be able to do it for months is a start from scratch dedication when camper building. For many the hardest is learning to limit water consumption ,although 200G water and waste tanks have been seen for those who dont. FF |

Thanks Jack -- My partner and didn't have time to stay at the rally but we were passing right through town and I asked if we could just stop by and take a look at the busses. For me it was a chance to show my partner "see we're not the only one!" Wish we could have stayed but glad I had at least one chance to attend a few years ago. Hopefully again one of these years!
