I have a '59 4104 w/ 6V71 and v730 auto. It runs like a hound after a cold biscuit on the highway, but it is a little wimpy up the mountains. When I bought the bus, it had the V71 (blown up) and a 4 speed. I put another V71 in, and the V730. I had to make a drive shaft and have the front fire wall cut to accept the larger diameter tranny. I also installed an air throttle and put new bushings in the link bars to located the rear end. New air bags also. About the only thing I need now is a front wheel driven speedo, and to rebuild the steering box.(too much slop). I have been told I can change to a dry air filter and turbo my V71, but I wonder if the hp difference would be worth the $? |

You can't just turbo your V71 and have it last. A turbo 71 has different pistons and put out a lot more heat also I believe It timed different Al |
