Went down to Quartzsite AZ this last weekend, popped in to see the GMC/Flxible/Eagle rally. 1,040 RT miles later, here are just a few of over 100 buses that were in attendance:

Scenicruiser

Obviously, above is a classic Scenicruser, and a 45-foot Eagle below. Yes, those are windows in the front two baggage bins of the Eagle, and yes, there are a couple of bunks down there.

Here's a couple more:

Solar Flx

One of the many Flxibles at the rally - note the solar panels on the roof!

Raised 06

For those who say it cannot be done on a GMC, here's someone who went ahead and did it anyway!

More coming. . .

More from Quartzsite:

Brier

Here's an interesting "Toad" - a 1962 Chevy Corvair Greenbrier. Owned by Jim Craig, from S CA, he tows this behind a '57 Flxible Visicoach, the turquoise one in the photo below:

Finally, this beautiful 4106, owned by Cliff & Charlotte Moon, of Tucson, AZ. The photo does not do this coach justice at all - it is absolutely gorgeous, looks just like it rolled off the production line in Pontiac, MI, maybe better. Sorry, it is not for sale (I asked!), it's Cliff's pride and joy, justifiably so. Originally sold new to Las Vegas - Tonopah - Reno Stage Lines, the Moon's have owned this coach nearly 30 years, buying it directly from LTR when it was retired from revenue service. Coach spent it's entire commercial life running as a commuter between Las Vegas and the AEC proving grounds - when the Moon's got it, the baggage bins had never been used!! There really are no words that can describe the condition of this coach - you have to see it to believe it!

Moon

As a final note, this is the first time I've ever been to Quartzsite, and I was blown away by the thousands, literally, of RVs that were there. Yes, there were also MCIs and Prevosts scattered around, but no organized rally for them - maybe next year. But as far as the eye could see, RVs were everywhere. . . the place was NUTS!!

Oh, and 78 degrees, too!

RJ, we will be down there next week. Can you give specific location or GPS coordinates? Thanks.

Anyone know of an MCI get together at Quartzite?

Chuck -

Altho the rally is over, there were a few folk who were going to be hanging around longer.

The GMC/Flxible/Eagle groups were parked just east of Hiway 95, on the N side of Kuehn St. Easiest access is/was to take Exit 19, go S to Kuehn, then W. If you get to the signal light at 95, you've gone too far.

Hey RJ,

It was a pleasure meeting you at Quartzsite. You and Don got busy talking propane and I started talking to Wayne and I never found you again. I guess we'll have to raincheck that Pepsi for the next time.

Thanks RJ.

First winter I'm retired, I want to get down there, park the coach beside a good looking cactus and sit in a chair watching it all. When boredom sets in, I'll know recovery from a work life of public service has begun...

happy coaching!

Here is a thread with some of my Quartzsite pictures if anyone is interested. So far I just have a picture of all the Eagles that were there (and mine which wanted to be there but couldn't). There were 32 Eagles in all.

http://www.eaglesinternational.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=277

I have lots more pictures of interiors, engines, people, etc. and will have those posted soon as well.

A fellow busnut on another BBS asked if I had any more photos taken at Quartzsite. I do, and here are "the best of the rest":

GMC Lineup

Here's a couple of lineup shots, GMCs above, and Flxibles below. I couldn't get a decent one of the Eagles for two reasons - they were packed in so tightly and there were too many toads in the way. . .

Flxibles

(Sorry for all the pixilations in these two shots, I edited them wrong, and now that they're uploaded, I can't replace them. Bummer.)

And finally, a couple more GMCs. The rest of my photos. . . well, let's just say the quality is too poor to post - lousy lighting, "stuff" in the way, etc.

Busnuts have a good sense of humor - check out the destination sign on the 4104. . .

Tom -

Pixelations are all the little squares of color that make up the digital image.

Both of the line-up photos above were resized incorrectly, with too low of a resolution, so when they show up here on the BBS, you get to see all the little pixels. . .

RJ, I only meant that I couldn't see them. The pictures looked pretty good from here. I'll bet that you're running a fancy monitor.
