Doyle, glad you made it. Some of them should be left. I haven't been to quartzsite in about 10 years. Wish I could have made it this year, but it wasn't in the cards.
You will like the new rear. I put a 3.36 in my Eagle about 6 years ago and I love it. The best part of the rear is in 3ed gear. Mine will run about 60 in third and that makes a big difference when you get to the hills. Hope you find some of them

Jack, you are right... this new ratio is too good. I can also do 55 to 60 and she just pulls and pulls in 3rd.

Clifford, I'll get out in the toad tomorrow and see if I can spot any of 'em.

Thanks,

Hey Doyle glad you are back on the road just read your posts, thanks for the updates on what it was and how it got resolved. Nice dog and pictures too. What ratio did you have before and now you have a 3.38? Lower or higher before and what are the good and bad of the before and after. Thanks and happy trails Dave

David, I had a 3.71 (11 teeth on the pinion and 41 on the ring gear) it was a higher ratio but a lower top end final drive; and required less torque coming out of the blocks. I'm told it is a more common ratio for a standard transmission... the 3.71, and although mine came from the factory with an Allison H740, that's what it had. Because it had the lower ratio my top speed in 1st (up the hills) was 18; now it's 22. 2nd was about 32 and it's now about 40. 3rd is now the real money cause on a mild grade, I can downshift and maintain 50 to 55 for any distance, where before I might have ended up in 2nd and down to 30 mph. The young guy who put the new one in kept telling me what a dog it was going to be and that I'd need a mile of clearance to get onto the road; but I don't notice any drop off on the low end performance. I might even go from 6 to 7 mpg! And as the snail riding on the back of the turtle said......"Wheeeeee!"
