What is the best compound to use in buffing up and polishing up the stainless steel on the sides of the bus? I've seen cans of "aluminium" polish at Advanced Auto Parts and similar elsewhere....I know it will take a lot of time and patience, but it is a project! Perhaps, something of commerical grade is available at Home Depot? | ||

I get my polish and polishing wheels from International Bus & Parts in Apopka, Florida 1-800-468-5287. the polish comes in "bricks". I start with black (emory), then red (tripoli), then blue, then white. I use different wheels with each compound. I use 2 wheels at a time on a 9" angle grinder/polisher. The wheels are like those used on a stationary polisher (you are using the edge of the wheels, not the flat side. Polishing compound is also available from Grainger's and probably other sources. My sides were very dull and lots of scratches. I found wet sanding starting from 220 on the deeper scratches and 400 on the rest and going grade by grade to a 2000 grit gave me a nice even finish. Using a sanding block/sponge and raping the paper around it made the job pretty easy. To get to a chrome look I used the steeps Jack mentioned. | ||

Will "Brasso" do the work in polishing the stainless portions of my MC8 (luggage bay areas, front and rear, etc.)? | ||
