The good news: I found one, on a junked 1985 F-600 dump truck, with a 429 gas engine. The bad news: I have no idea how to make sure it works before I remove & buy it. The truck doesn't run. HELP! |

If you're talking about the air compressor, there are two parts that I would want to test. I just went thru some tests with my Bendix Tu-flo 700. First would be the bottom end consisting of the bearings and seals. The only way I know to realy test the bearings & seals is to install & try it out. Second is the top end consisting of the exhaust valves, inlet valves & the unloader. The top end rebuild kit costs about $40 (I just bought one) so its not that big of a deal if it needs work. One test of the top end (as detialed in the Bendix manual) is to apply 120 psi to the outlet port and check for leaks @ the inlet. The book says a little leaking is ok. I also found a rebuilt Tu-flo 700 for about $240 which is not bad. Get the Bendix manual (Tu-flo 700 tech data) from: http://www.bendix.com/products/Compressors.shtml Godd luck, Joe |
