Most DD engines are left hand turn in the vintage buses. I have a 8v71 which is left turn and when I repowered it was hard to get some parts. If you are looking at a bus for conversion, please look a the engine. You might want to find a right turn engine bus. It will make things easier for you. Mike

THERE is usually a huge difference in the power output of a truck or bus engine.
Although the engines are basically the same , by using big injectors or a turbo the truck folks go for as much power as the engine can stand..

The difference is most trucks get paid by the mile and an 80,000 pound load will slow the trucks a lot on hills.

Most conversions only weigh 24000 to 30,000 , although the are many that will be heavier up t0 over 50,000 for some Eagles.

The busses were designed to go legal speeds at legal weights so much less power is needed.

The big difference is in fuel milage , and bragging rites, old coaches if well done get 9 or 10 mpg fairly easily if standard shift.

The trucks hope to see 6 mpg , and those with very modern type engines somtimes even do better.

Althopugh its tempting to want to have the MOSTIS or BESTIS , its a very expensive addiction in coach conversions.

Both from the cost of having modifications done, accepting a much lower service life , and paying the fuel bill.
