I know that the best motor oil for my 8v-71 is Delo 100 40wt., but I can't find it locally (West Michigan). I called Williams Detroit Diesel and they said they use Delvac 40 wt. in all the 8v-71 work they do. They claim that Delvac 40 wt. is made by DD for the 8v-71. Any advice on this? As always... Thanks in advance!! MR '81 MC-9 |

I was just at Detroit Diesel New England picking up a few parts and noticed about 20 five gallon pails of Delvac 1340 oil. Must be the right stuff if they stock it here too. Jim |

IIRC, Delvac is Mobil Oil's name for the equivalent of Chevron's Delo. As long as it meets DDA's specs for two-strokes, it should be OK. RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

Mark, The Delvac is what I have been using based on the specs in the manual and on the oil. I also buy it directly from Williams DD in Grand Rapids since they give me great service and ship it right to my door. FWIW Steve G. MC9 Pontiac |
