Look what I found on the Bendix site: http://www.bendixvrc.com/itemDisplay.asp?documentID=5252 Bulletin No: PNU-130-000 Effective Date: December 5, 2008 Subject: Discontinuance of Bendix® SD-3™ and DD-3™ Actuators Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake LLC is discontinuing the availability of the SD-3™ and DD-3™ actuators and service replacement components. The time line below outlines the phase-out process. Prior to December 5, 2008: Orders will be accepted until December 5, 2008 or until current inventories are depleted. All Bendix Services will be available. After December 5, 2008: All Bendix Technical and Customer Support will continue to be available for the listed products until December 31, 2009. Orders will be processed for items in inventory. After December 31, 2009: Bendix Technical Support (SWAT) will be available in support of the Bendix® product in the field. I suppose the writing was on the wall when MCI stopped using them a few years back. We need to identify if there are alternative sources of supply. Get out and beat the bushes, busnuts! happy coaching! buswarrior |

Take a look at what they are discontinuing. Looks to me like they are discontinuing complete assemblies and some hard parts. But I don't see soft parts in the list. Could be they will still offer soft parts? |

An option might be to purchase a used one somewhere and have it rebuilt, then hang onto it until needed, then rebuild your other one and keep the cycle going. |

Good idea about having spares of things being discontinued. Be advised though that GM 4905s use right & left handed housings though the internal parts are the same. If you install a leftie on the right, the drain holse are on top and they fill up with water, causing total destruction (Some P.O. did just that to my '05. If you have DD3s I'd buy the overhaul parts. seal them up & you are set. Or if your units are of unknown vintage, go ahead & overhaul them now & you are set for 15 years or so. |

This looks like an ad for your company? Maybe in the classified section instead. I am surprised if you have new dd3's. From what I've been told, Bendix hasn't made new ones of this item for quite a few years, only rebuilds available on an exchange basis. |
