Sounds ok if it has the turbo Detroit with low hours on the engine/driveline. Jake? Paint looks good. Do not know about the rest of the coach's condition. Tires, brakes, bushings, shocks, etc. Also steering gear and engine accessories. How is it geared? Short? Tall? Reason for all.... The guestions is that if it is a non turboed Detroit with the 5-speed Fuller, it is going to.... Be a little bit underpowered as a coach candidate. With that tranny, a turbo Detroit would..... Be very desirable. A standard 210/218 "N" Detroit not so desirable. Other than that...... The price right now is faily reasonable and only a little bit high. Curious as to how $much$ she goes for? Thanks for the post. Crowns are getting less expensive all the time. Henry of CJ ('74 10-wheeler) |

Hi, He does not know which engine is in it, what the ratio is or much else about it. He said it had a pancake Detroit in it. Hmmmmm? Anyway, he said he was not in a position to go look, too bad, she looks like a good one, Bradd |

Yea, the pictures show that the paint looks brand new. Also the kids are very cute. The body looks in really good shape too. However.... The price in my humble opinion may be a little high and we still do not know what kind of Detroit it has. If it is a 262/250 turbo, WITH road gearing of around 70 or more, then it would make an excellent candidate..... For a possible RV coach conversion, even though it would be a little on the slow and unpowerful side to be really successfull. Still doable. If it has the 210/218/238 non turbo 671 and is geared at 55 mph at 2100 rpm (common!) then it is not so good of choice. Too slow and weak. Sorry. I know this sounds real negative and I do not mean to be. It needs to be said that right now Crown ex-school buses are fairly $cheap$ and common. Other used Crown examples would make a better choice for a coach conversion. And...lets face it, Crowns do not make that good..... Of choice as a conversion project to begin with. One would probably be better off spending more money with an Eagle or MCI. However...having said all this really bad stuff about Crowns (and I OWN one!) do wish I had an extra $3500 bucks and a way to LA!!! He he he. CROWNS FOREVER!!! |
