I have reached the point where I must level up. I'm on a concrete slab, but 8 inches deficiant to the front. If I took a fork lift, picked up the front end by the forward frame then set some blocks, would I damage the front axle suspension?.......Except for Hollywood, vehicles of this type never leave the ground as far as I know, and I don't want to 'hang' the front axle and cause damage. Next, I have shuffled the bathroom like a rubics cube and still the best way to set it up puts the shower drain over the center isle. If I bore a 2 1/2 inch hole in the sidewall of the isle, what will I need to make that hole?.....Is it a structural member as I suspect?........Don't want me new home to break in half..... Thanks....... |

Hi SLO: Unfortunately with a fork lift, the only place you can safely lift your coach is under the axle, as there is no structure ahead of the front axle that will support the weight of the coach other than the front bulkhead ahead of the front axle. But I don't think you will find forks that reach that far???? Since most forks are not that long, I think you have to go in another direction. Ahead of and behind your front axles are "Bulkheads" made of aluminum with heavy angles at the bottom of each. With 2 - 10 ton jacks placed on both sides of the bulkhead (left & right) with a heavy steel plate between the jack head and bulkhead, jack both sides up together (2 man job). When at the proper height, support the bulkhead with Heavy Timbers of Heavy Jack stands, remove the jacks and proceed with your project. With regard to making your "Hole in the Floor", as long as you are not directly above another bulkhead, who will not damage the structure of your coach. If what I have suggested is "vague", hit on my name at the top of this post, E-Mail me & and I will be more than happy to help you further. You are dealing with a lot of weight & we don't want to see you HURT!!!!! Good luck with your project!!! LUKE at US COACH |

Thanks Luke......... I emailed you for further details, but thanks for your response!..... Just so readers understand, my forklift WILL reach main frame members. I just don't want to 'hang' the front axle and cause damage. SLO |

The tunnel below the center isle in my MC9 has two levels. The upper level is an air return for the factory heat/AC and the lower level houses a rats nest of air lines, fuel lines and electrical wiring. Don't know if the MC7 is set up the same way, but something to consider before you take a hole saw to the center isle. Ross |
