67 GMC with v730 Allison Transmission air shifter and it won't engage.
The air shifter is working.
The shift rod is moving.
Fluid is all normal.
What else should I look for before I pull the pan?
This is the first time I have tried to move it since my trip to Daytona in March when I backed it into the driveway and parked it.
No problems at that time that I noticed at all.
Thanks Much,
Randy

Not to be sarcastic, but if you did pull the pan what would you be looking for ?
No knowledge on v730 to share , but general diagnostics procedures on automatic transmission (non-electronic) is done with pressure gauges attached to different ports with the transmission still intact and running and flow/pressure test charts to guide you; after confirming the simple things like the manual shift valve is moving with the linkage . There is also that old thing about the parking brake not having released .

I would be checking to see if the shaft that is moving on the outside is moving on the inside for starters. I'm checking on the pressure part of it using pressure gauges on the proper pressure ports but wont have that schematic until tomorrow from the Allison dealer but again everything was working fine up until I parked it last time so looking for something mechanical that simply broke. Maybe the shifter shaft or whatever drives the pump.

"Something mechanical that simply broke" will not happen by just sitting in storage.>>>Dan

Randy
Check the small nut on the shifter shaft. There is a small flat spot that also might have slipped and although you see the shifter go in and out it might not be moving the linkage. Try disconnecting the air shift linkage and move the lever manually. Next step is to use the pressure gages and check against the book.
