Does anyone know a part number or store that sells a solenoid that I can use to boost the starting battery from the aux ones. It should have a capacity of around 500 amps. I have just installed a couple of group 31 starting batteries instead of the 8D's. The 8D's are too heavy to move around anymore. The aux batteries are on the same tray so it is easy to add a solenoid to join the two sets for boosting if needed. Thanks for any help.

Bill,
A standard truck/bus starting solenoid is all you need. A 12 Volt starter may draw about 400 amps, while a 24 Volt will only draw about half of that. Then, the boost solenoid will only carry part of the starting load?

Wow Pete,

The next time I can't find an electric part I need (and the associated link), it's obvious you're the man.

Bill, the CDS12/24 series have basically the same ratings of solenoids I purchased for three times the cost. And I thought I was getting a good deal at the time.

Chuck,
Are you still operating the bus OTR air system? If not you might salvage, as I did, frim your own bus, the 24V coil 200Amp contactors for the evap & blower motors. This is what I used.
Good Luck,
Gary

Pete
Thanks for the replys. The listings you gave are great. I will order one tomorrow.
George
I figured that is how it would work. Thanks.
Chuck
I guess we should always ask Pete first before we order something. He is a wealth of knowledge.
