in my engine compartment, there is this mystery tank, about 12" in dia, 12" high. http://brightstoneriver.com/bus/IMAG0125.jpg http://brightstoneriver.com/bus/IMAG0126.jpg http://brightstoneriver.com/bus/IMAG0127.jpg there is a fill cap on top, with a little dipstick indicating it's full. there is a light amber oil (diesel?) inside. what is this thing, and why is it there? http://brightstoneriver.com/bus/IMAG0128.jpg http://brightstoneriver.com/bus/IMAG0129.jpg http://brightstoneriver.com/bus/IMAG0130.jpg bonus question: on the bus, seams connecting two metal panels are covered with this aluminum strip, that was affixed by aircraft type rivets. then it was covered with this long black (ugly on my white bus)rubber seal. why is this necessary, what does it do? Can I just rip it out, and if I can't, where can I get some white rubber seal to replace the black one? |

actually now that I think about it, you are probably right. the thing has engine in the rear and it was pretty far from the steering, so I didn't make the connection, but I don't know where else it could be. good answer, thanks! |

Looks just like my power steering reservoir. You top it up through the same hole as the dipstick, and there is probably a screen below that. My PS uses ATF, so it's red. Many units use 15W-40. -Sean http://OurOdyssey.BlogSpot.com |

Looks like typical RV type seam cover. You can probably find white insert material at an RV supply. |
