What's this I hear about Alluminum buckleing in the heat if put on wrong? What should I look out for? |

My Crown Highway Coach (not a schoolie) aluminum siding and roof mics at .065 and the skin, for the most part has embossed "ribs" on 4 inch centers, horizontally. Structural members, vertical are l.5 inch square tube, are 28 inches on center and go from the bottom of a side up and over the top and down the other side.
All are supported with a horizontal formed framing member at floor level that must be 8-10 inches wide, a 5 inch member below the windows and a huge member, a parallelogram of about 18 guage steel, at the transition line above the window which goes to the inside of the coach and acts as a raceway for cable, speakers, lighting, etc.
When I removed several windows, I put in vertical supports at 28 Inches on center. Used steel, 18 guage, in place of aluminum, deferring to Dave Galey's suggestion. Rivited and Sikaflex. Easy one man job and looks pretty good. And a whole bunch cheaper.
