When my mci 8 is aired up, the tag axle on drivers side goes up instead of down. I turned the valve off and on with no effect?

If the pivot bearing (bushing) is frozen, you have a real problem, it has several places to lube it. The air pressure is regulated to 35psi, normally. The air bag only pushes down, the valve dumps air that is in the bag and stops air to the bag. But sounds like the bushing is froze, mine were worn out and I changed mine at home. Mine are not perfect but the wheels do not tilt, or look to towed out.

.. reach in and punch the bags to see if they are inflated. The tag does not go up with air as the air pressure/ air bag is only a down force, what you must be seeing is the bus going up, taking the stuck tags with it. Does your coach have a tag unload switch on the drivers (left arm) control panel, It may be malfunctioning & preventing full air pressure (it cuts the pressure by 50% in the dump position) from getting to the tag bags.

If they are not getting air the old grease may be holding them "up" or in the deflated position. After blocking you bus for safety, grease the tag axles , maybe some heat will help soften the old grease and may help free the axles provide it isn't the bushings piling up & binding, which indicate repairs are warranted. Rapid uneven wear on the tag tires may mean excessive bushing wear and time for rebuild. After you free it, a long pry bar will help you inspect the wear.

Always play safe when under heavy objects !

Would you use some more words to describe what you mean by the tag going up, not down?

happy coaching!

The drivers side tag axle definately does go up believe it or not. I start the bus up to air up. The tag axle then raises into the fender weld as far as it could possibly go not just staying in one position. It tucks itself up so to speak. Sort of like a gog with a bum leg.

Check the frame that the tag axle air bag attaches to (top of air bag). Sounds like this frame may have "let loose" from excessive rust. This happened on our MC-8. I had to remove the wheel and air bag, repair the tag axle frame by cleaning the metal and adding some plate steel, welding everything back together. Jack

Just sounds like i need to tear into it i guess. Rebuild on it was 66,000 mi ago. Maybe something simple as an air leak.
