My AMG has been insured with GMAC (thru Good Sam) with full-timer coverage (comp, coll, etc) and suddenly it was increased. When I called them, they said there was automatic increase due to the fact that I have had my drivers license over x number of years. I've never heard of such a thing. Also, I noticed they claimed my bus conversion value was "1976 NEW @ $70,000" on the policy which I had not noticed before. I reminded them we had agreed upon a value in 2000 of $70,000. That was certainly not a NEW price of the rig as of 1976. The bus was converted in 1999 and in 2000 I had to jump through hoops - got an appraisal, sent them pictures of the inside and the outside and a complete description of everything it had. I was astounded to see the original policy also said the same thing and I had assumed (shame on me) that it read what they verbally committed to. I did a search on BusNut for insurance information and can't seem to drag up other companies. I recall Progressive was one I had called in 2000 but their price was WAY too high at the time. I am bummed. Rate is up and policy is wrong. Any suggestions? |

Location seems to be important. The State of NC pulled something stupid (imagine that!!!) on the insurance companies and many won't write any coverage for motor homes of any type now in NC -- I know that Allstate and Progressive won't. |

Hi Renee, I just recieved my renewal from Aon and it's actually a few dollars cheaper then last years.. Agreed value does cost a bit more but, well worth it in an event of a disaster. Good Luck Nick- |

We've had this discussion here before, and I badmouthed Progressive for really high rates on my 1999 diesel pickup truck, when I made the mistake of insuring it with them, compared to Farmers. Granted, I have high coverage limits, but NO tx or ax, and I'm not a teen age driver. On my 04 Dodge diesel P/U, Progressive is $400 higher for 6 mo. than the exact same coverage from Farmers. My 1990 Ramcharger Toad is $100 higher at Progressive, for nothing but 300/500 liability. Progressive is also higher than AAA, again on an exact quote for the same vehicles, driver and ZIP code. G |

Hear is a good one State Farm sent me a letter yesterday registered. the letter says they are canceling my coach insurance no reason given so I called my agent and she says "oh they do that some times" but she also said I failed to provide info as to its class and value! And she came out and seen it took pics. now that I have taken the interior out I probably wont be able to get RV insurance until next year. :-( |

As a former Insurance Broker...along with my father, one needs to be wary of any of the "farms"...and "states". They are called, in the industry, "captive carriers" and will, at the drop of a hat, accident, claim and other certain circumstances ("you are an accident...waiting to happen") notify you, in writing, that you will be canceled...usually 30 days or whatever is required in your state. Cheap rates for the interim... maybe for years...then if an incursion, of any type, Home Owners, Auto, Fire, Landlord's or whatever coverage, beware. One can most usually "tell" who they are..or might be. Best advice (and I have not been in the business for years) use an Independent Insurance Broker always...for best service and "deals". And one might not always like what they hear from such a broker, but it is most probably in your best interest at the end of the day...that's the way he (or she) stays in business. No offense to any "on board"....just a long, 40 year+ observed conclusion. FWIW RCB |

I also have Interstate Ins. After a previous experience, I require "Agreed Upon Value" on my coach, AND "Replacemenent Value" on home and barn insurance. Ed Roelle Flint, MI |
