Hello all; three questions for my '61 4104: 1) the manual specifies ATF fluid for power steering; is Dextron the right ATF fluid? 2) my dixon speedometer (700) has always shown 1/2 of the actual speed; I presume the previous owner got the dip switch setting wrong. Would anyone have the appropriate settings for the 4104? (dixon magnetic sender, drivers front wheel, usual size tires). 3) After changing to a new temp guage, I've noticed that the coolant temperature fluctuates continuously, going from about 160 to 205 degrees in about two minutes, then going back down to 160 again in a manner of seconds; obviously this has something to do with the thermostat, but is this normal? Any infomation would be helpful. Thanks, JT4104 |

*1 - Yes *2 - Contact Ametek Dixon HD Service at 970-244-1243. *3 - Coolant temp will fluctuate as the thermostat opens and closes, but should stay w/in a narrower range than your gauge is indicating. Perhaps a sticking thermostat, or a bad ground or sender for the gauge. A "'61" 4104???? Don't you mean a '60? The '06s came out in '61. . . If your registration says it's a '61, 't'aint right. Send me the VIN and I'll check it against my GM delivery roster. rjlong@mediaone.net RJ |

On the speedo registering half speed, check the magnets. One may be gone, or has been shifted too far away to register on the pick-up as it passes. happy coaching! buswarrior-MC8-ON |
