UNIQUE SITE ON WEB LISTS LOCAL GAS PRICES
A site in cyberspace now allows us busnuts to check out local gasoline prices, or prices for gas stations in any ZIP code.
The site -- gaspricewatch.com -- takes its information from its own checks of stations, but relies heavily on contributions from consumers about prices in their area or "along the road."
It's accessible 24 hours a day and is interactive. Just put in the ZIP code of the desired area and the site's computers supply a list of gas stations there. Addresses are also listed, as well as phone numbers. Additionally, there's a link with each
listing that goes to an automatic mapping service to find the locations checked. Not only is the site great for people trying to find the cheapest stations in their area.
The stations are listed by price, but it's great for trip planning. It affords busnuts who are willing to pull off the Interstate
onto the old two-lane road that was replaced by the super highway to know ahead of time what "non-highway prices" are.
Heating oil prices as well as Canadian gas prices and information on gas taxes in various jurisdictions are also listed.
