Every yacht has a name prominently displayed on its rear. what about our land yachts? did you name your bus yet? and I mean actually written on the bus, not just a nickname you gave it. Also, do you have a certain theme to your conversion? I mean, some type of unifying design scheme, that ties it all together? I have been trying to stop myself from making my bus into a Star Trek Shuttle themed bus, ever since someone mentioned that the side profile resembles something from the star trek : the next generation. |

Our bus is named "Odyssey" and that name is prominently displayed across the back in a custom-designed logotype: http://odyssey.smugmug.com/gallery/249941_CbiFS#9781504_6QBLb-L-LB That said, I think "Galileo 7" would be a fine name for a bus. -Sean http://OurOdyssey.BlogSpot.com |

After watching the movie "Transformers" ,thought of using Optimus Prime lol, because of the size of our eagle, adding blue flames here and there would have tyed it all together. But now I think Thunder Struck will be the name ,cause we don't really feel like we were bitten by some bug but more like thunder struck when I first layed eyes on her.Van |

"That said, I think "Galileo 7" would be a fine name for a bus. " Sean, according to the wikipedia, Galileo 7 burns up in orbit at the end of that episode. but the Galileo Shuttle was exactly what I had in mind, a white bus with a red stripe, and wheelwells illuminated with red LEDs, and blue LED track lighting running down the side. All the trekkies would love it |

Mine will be named "Phoenix" if I move forward with saving her from the flames... The name has obvious meaning for anyone that's kept up with the threads about the house and bus burning... ;) She'll be white/red/orange/yellow... -Mac |

We named our coach Orange Blossom Special II. Our first coach (a 4106) was Orange Blossom Special. We chose that name for several reasons, being from Florida, the state flower is the orange blossom. Our place is surrounded by orange groves (sweetest smelling place on earth when the tees are all in bloom), When we were still clogging, Orange Blossom Special was one of our favorite songs to dance to. We had the pleasure to meet and become good friends with Chubby Wise (now deceased), the writer of the Orange Blossom Special song. and last but not least, I like the old steam locomotives. The name is proudly displayed on both the front and rear of our coach (Message edited by JackConrad on May 26, 2009) |

While driving my coach home from the transit company, it occured to me what a monster with which I had paid good money to associate and commit myself for the next number of years. It was immediately named 'bub' (big ugly bus). That handle will remain until such time as it converted into something different. Ours is called PapaBus..so named by the youngest grandkids when they first saw it. Although the name is not yet painted on, the license plate says 'PAPABUS'. That gets lots of grins at campgrounds, etc when they need a plate number. I'm thinking on the back cap I may write...."Are We There Yet?" When we got our 4104, I wanted a name that reflected her late '50s timeframe and our desire to explore new places. I lobbied hard to name her "Sputnik". But alas, my kids and wife dubbed her "Lucy" and that has sorta stuck. It's just a family name for her, with no external lettering on the bus. |

Peter - Besides being a busnut, I'm also a long-time Corvair nut. Thus, my GMC 4106 is affectionately known as "The Giant Greenbrier" as both were in production during 1964. Since I'm keeping the destination sign & roll, I'll eventually have that silk-screened onto the mylar so it can be displayed when parked. FWIW & HTH. . .

Okay, I'll bite. My bus is named #504. That's what the last owner called her, I guess... pretty cold and impersonal to my mind. I was going to call her 'Nomads Land' in keeping with my ridiculous lifestyle. But NOW I'm thinking 'Christine'... you know, after that Stephen King book about this weird and scary '57 Plymouth. Anyway, I realized tonight that I have a Stephen King bus. It has a mind of its own, does what it wants - usually bad, sometimes good. Like right now, she's sitting perfectly level on a rather steep sideways slope. I haven't started her since yesterday afternoon and she's leveled herself like a new coach. I was changlng shoes, wondering why I wasn't doing my normal sideways lurch and it hit me: 'My God, the floor isn't tilting...' And I went out and looked and couldn't believe my eyes. Front and back bumpers up and perfectly level - curb side tires tucked well under the wheel skirts (high side of the slope) and driver's side tires showing all the sidewall (and then some) on the low side of the slope. Of course, the parking brake (AND service brakes) are fairly pissing air... from no apparent cause, either. Just happened on its own... bus stopped, already shut down and brake engaged. Then PSSSSHT! Okay, Christine, I give up trying to figure you out! Why dontcha be true? (oopps... mixing analogies here). Nellie Wilson |

My beautiful rig is named Ruby Rambler because she's mostly a beautiful ruby color and we ramble around from place to place, taking the byways whenever possible. The color scheme is all burgundy, ruby reds, dove grey and white. Very nice. I give so much credit to the previous owners who did a marvelous job on her conversion. I love my Ruby! |

The old hound is a sweet ride, me, I'm not as sweet as I could be. Our Towed is a Chevy Cavalier and I personally think 2977 is the better ride and it is easier to drive. She is 52 years old and still going strong. BTW, the inside is worth seeing. |

Still too busy calling myself names for buying a bus just before all the work disappeared. Maybe Garuda once all the smoke has cleared. |

you are gonna love the ride in that old flx fred...I predict you will even be more fond of it than your sportscar. I sure hope so. But traveling out west with both retarder and Jakes will allow us to tow a heavy boat trailer with NO FEAR. Our biggest hassle is ANGOLA did an amateurs conversion and stuffed all the house stuff into the bays, so towing a trailer will be required just to snowbird. FF |

When I think of naming my bus, all that comes to mind is; OH MY GOD, WHAT WAS I THINKING! =) Actually, I call her "The Beast" but I'm sure the wife will veto that once she's ready to roll. |

The folks we purched the coach from called her "Gotta Go" and it's still printed on the front until we can think of our own name for her. You can tell by my nickname I wanted to call her Busasaurus but got the veto from Rhonda. Bryan Vancouver BC |

considering i only know of one other bus conversion that has TWO glass stations in it...i was thinking of calling her the "boro bus" (borosilicate is hard glass). but theres a lovely looking gillig symbol on the front so i may leave that and call her gillig pronounced jilly but with a swuave french accent. its going to be between those two when i finally address the paint and vinyl lettering for it my friend up north suggested i get lettering to go down the side that says "christian bingo assoc." or something like that so i dun get harrassed ever lmfao! but i fear if i encorporate that into the name bishop will beat me up ;-p J/K |

Ours hasn't earned a name yet. But I like the "christian bingo assoc" idea. Keep you out of trouble in small towns. lol |

AEd, I ran the name A Sweet Ride past my sweet wife, she loves it. Her first name is Alene, so thanks for the name. Of course the bus is a sweet ride, better than a big old Cadillac with the plus of eating and sleeping in my own home when we are on the road. Blessings, David and Alene PD4104-2977 AKA: A Sweet Ride |

Cool! Glad you like it, it just seemed a natural to me. Maybe some day we will see you going down the road somewhere. :>) |
