I just ran into a guy north of Reno that has a 4106 that he's about to scrap. I havent seen it, but he said he bought two of them from the city of Seattle way back to do a conversion, sold one, and never did more than gut the poor thing and let it sit in a field. He claims that it has a virtually new engine (6V-71 I think) that had almost no use. The engine and 4 speed are semi-installed, ie slid back in but not hooked up or run in the bus. I think he took the new engine from the two busses, switched it to the bus he kept, and sold the other. Sounds like he might have doccumentation on the engine. He said he would take $1000 for the engine and transmission, but I suspect he would take that for the whole bus if anyone is interested. It is a shame to send one of these old beauties to the grinder, makes my heart sad. If I had the room I would keep it here to part, or better, find a loving home that will bring her back to life. Anyway, if anyone is interested I can try to find out more, or better, put you in touch with him. Don't really want to put his contact info here without asking him first. FYI, I don't know him from adam, just trying to save a beautifull old girl from the glue factory! Speaking of pretty old girls, I found a Scenicruiser in a field too, and I am trying to track down the owner. Once I see her inside, already converted, I'll decide if I want to take her on or give her up to you GOOD wolves! Jim |
