Hello all

My main door on 73 silver eagle is the split (or two piece) type. My question is how do you`all lock such a door up? There is a chain on the bottom of each, where I simply throw a paddle-lock on it. Would like to hear what others have done.

thanks,

Convert it to a one piece door? Gene Lewis has a great write up on his website, showing how he improved his door substantially by converting it to one-piece.

I saw a Eagle that they had eliminated the front door and put a RV door in the middle of the coach. There were some benifits like a screen door, the enterance is under the awning and the co-piolets area was nicer with out the stairs. He lost some storage in one spot but gained some up front

I don't know much about Eagles, but my MC5 had split (transit style) doors on both the front and midship. The front I changed to a single swing style door from and MC-9 and the side I am leaving as a split, but replacing the air cylinder with a 12 volt linear actuator so I can open and close them without having to build air. Not sure if Eagles have any of those options.

John, I too had two "transit" doors, only mine were "accordian-type" and on the left hand side. I've closed both of them in and built in a new door (with a door built following Gene's writeup) on the right hand side. The new door is behind the stairs leading to the upstairs floor but it's on the curb side now and not dumping passengers (or loading) out in the middle of the street.
