Talk with Sonnie Gray (Catskinner). He did a wonderful job and knows how to do it right. Come on over to Eagles International and pose that question. www.eaglesinternational.net Paul (Message edited by dreamscape on June 19, 2009) |

Paul, I thought about doing this on my 10. I even got Norris at Jefferson Truck to fax me a maintenance manual copy of factory installed bags on an Eagle 15. It was an option for some of the 15's. The manual's pictures were almost identical to the way I was going to engineer my air bags. I talked to Dave Gregory at Southern Oregon Diesel and he pretty much talked me out of it. He said I would be disappointed with the amount of lift acquired due to the distance inboard the bags would be located. They have to press against the torsalastic case. I put a jack and some steel on one of mine to simulate a bag. Dave was right I didn't really get alot of lift on the coach frame. Therefore, I abandoned the project. My objective was to level the bus when on unlevel ground. This is not to say that it won't work as an air assist to tired torsalastics. It would probably work well for that, but for what I wanted I would be more satisfied with Bigfoot levelers, though I balk at the $4000 price. David |

David, Sonnie has levelers also, but the air bags give him the option of ride height, suspension travel and the fact it helps make the torsalastics (Eaglelastics) last longer. It may change the ride, but you will have to talk with Sonnie on that one. I do agree that for leveling it wouldn't help much in very uneven places. But if it's for maybe adding more height in worn our torsalastics, it will help. You just have to make sure the cases are solid and don't have any cracks, and really beef up the tubular frame they are mounted on. I'm thinking of doing that on my 01, as the drive axle torsalastics are at the end of adjustment. It really depends on what the intended use is. It would also be nice if we knew what Roberts intended use was. Paul |

Paul, Sonnie does not have air bags on his drivers only on the tag the same way Wayne is doing his.The MOL built Eagles used the air bags on the tag along with the last of the model 15 built.FWIW the model 04 was the only Eagle that used air bags on the drivers. good luck |

I just spoke with Sonnie to confirm what I thought he has done. He does have two air bags on each side of his drive axle. He also said it was OK to post his phone number in case Robert wants to talk with him on how he did it. Here it is 90three 81five, 21fourone. Clifford, I thought I was going crazy because I saw them a couple of weeks ago when he stopped by. Hope this helps Paul (Message edited by dreamscape on June 20, 2009) (Message edited by dreamscape on June 20, 2009) |

Sorry, Paul I never looked under his bus but have seen the hangers on the side for torque tubes.Wayne is using air bags only on the tag on his new one.Niles doesn't Dale just have air bags over the Eagle tubes. If Bob doesn't change the complete rear setup he is going to have a big problem with the dropbox.Sonnie does not use a drop box he has a truck rear fliped over and his drive is where the boggies were and tag is where the drivers where.
