Many folks will find items to use in their conversion at Home Cheapo or Lowes.

If you haven't moved in a while , go to the local Post Office and grab a stack of address change moving packets.

In FL and CT they contain a Lowes 10% discount card to $500., that Home Cheapo also honers .

10% here, 10% there could save enough to fill a fuel tank in a few years!!

AARP...do you know where your money goes?

If we get the socalized medicine that has FAILED worldwide , and loose medical care , to waiting in line at a burocRATS desk, you will know .

Rationing , and screwing the young and healthy is the AARP dream.

FF That is not AARP's fault about socalized medicine. I am a member and I use another health care provider because of the cost and have MORE coverage than being offered by AARP. I think that socalized medicine has come from the White House.

Marvin, if you are a member, you should probably bone up on what your leadership has actually been lobbying for in Washington. Sorry, but I think FF is correct on this one -- the lobbying stand has been pretty consistent, and it is a very powerful lobby indeed, thanks to the sheer number of members it can claim. Keeping those members somewhat in the dark about the behind-the-scenes activities is all part of the game.

One of the ways AARP has consistently beefed up its membership numbers, from which it derives so much clout, is by offering a simple package of benefits that, frankly, are not all that hard to come by. The 10% discount mentioned above is one of them; note that almost any organization can arrange for more or less that same 10% discount at most of the same establishments. Even a AAA card will get you that discount many places, and I know that various motorcycle and RV clubs I have belonged to over the years offered much the same thing.

One undeniable advantage the AARP has in negotiating for benefits is impressive group buying power in its age demographic. Few other organizations would be able to secure similar group medical plan discounts.

I don't qualify for membership (just yet) -- which hasn't stopped them from soliciting me -- but, personally, I'll pay a few extra bucks for medical coverage before I'd support an organization with the AARP's lobbying record on entitlements.

JMO, of course, FWIW, and YMMV :-)

"Membership has it's privilege" a slogan instigated by American Express is the biggest bunch of marketing hogwash ever propogated - If the American public ever STOPPPED joining rip off organizations, whose total purpose is to promote the political agendas and pocket books of the ORGANIZERS, and started studying the issues and began thinking for themselves - I would feel a whole lot better about the future of this Republic - FWIW

Personally I think we should demand the same health coverage that our Congress-persons and Senators have.
