I have taken apart the back 8 bunks of my 4104. the person who built it must have been an expert craftsman, all vertical walls were cut so precisely they fit perfectly. i want to make full size blueprints of the walls but i have not gotten any answers here locally on how to take something with compound radii and transcribe it into a drafting program. i use Visio 07 and i am very good at manipulating shapes but i dont know how to reverse engineer if you will this wall divider and make it digital. my goal is to do this and provide it on my face bus page so othe 4104 owners will be able to download it and put it through at kinkos for a full size ploter printout or if they have access, i will have it also vectored for a cutting machine so they can have a wood working shop cut it for them. If you know what i need to do please fill me in. so i can share it with anyone who is interested in it.

Craig,
I can't help with the drawing but, I think you will find that if you check carefully, most buses, particularly of that vintage, are just not very consistent. They were for the most part hand built, no lasers or computer aids.
I'll bet that the person who built your coach, made each vertical wall individually.

Craig
Len is right. Each wall is made individually as some coaches have a slight slope to the floor and if you move a few inches it changes the height or the width of the wall will change depending on what you are using it for. You could use large pieces of cardboard to make a template if you want to cut it out in one piece. Just some ideas as I did it 23 years ago.

Craig,
I have done several MCI's (MC-8, 96A3, & 102A3). I had to cut every wall individually to get an acceptable fit against the outside wall. I make a template using 1/4" plywood and re-scribe it for each wall. It would sure be nice if one pattern would fit for all walls in a bus. Jack

Things can move in an empty shell too.

A friend cut a panel to fit perfectly (middle of a hot sunny day), then took it out to apply a finish on all sides & the ends. The next morning, it wouldn't fit, too tight. The heat had expanded the Aluminium that much. The pannel fit after lunch tho. . . . , So he trimmed it to fit the early morning shape & fastened it to allow the shell to move.
Working well so far.

Craig,

Cardboard patterns or something similar are much simpler.

Or, probably even better, would be the old walls.

thank you all for the comments but, i have my walls already, i wanted to know how to reverse this and create a pattern to make available to everyone else. Good point on the variance's between each coach something to consider.
