Somewhere near the first of October this year we are leaving NE Oregon east to Cheyenne, Wy then on to Clemmons, NC for Pug dogshow Oct. 26 thru 31.
We plan on maybe four months going south to Florida and heading back west towards Vegas for the spring race.
Wondering best road to NC from Cheyenne. Anyone knowiing good layover spots hear and in the direction we are going. We have not driven east past WY. except a rental car out of Orlando four or five years ago. Neither of us care much for large towns. Would rather go around than thru heavy traffic. We haven't many plans but don't think we will go past Jacksonville unless good reason.
I know this opens a large area, but thanks for any response. Larry and Lynne

Try this site. TruckMiles.com It has some good stuff and tools, cant say if its any better than a regular trip site like mapquest. I would guess 80 east to 29 southto 70 east into St Louis and either keep on east to 75 or drop down to 40. 40 into NC use to be steep. Maybe sme of the truckers could post us a map with colored routes for different degrees of difficulty. Like 26 north out of Ashville that looks so good on the map but kicked out 4-71's butt! Have a good trip.

Definately come in on 1-40 to NC. I-26 is too steep east bound. The Black Mtn. grade on 40 is steep also but for shorter distance. I climb it all the time, 1st gear, 23 mph. Watch your speed coming down Black Mtn., 35 mph, state trooper most likely half way down the grade.
