Just curious....(update).... How old are we? Our accumulated age so far is 2017 years young. We average 49.195 years of age. We are from every walk of life but all have something in common. Some are rich and some (like us are not so well to do) but all seem to love life and appreciate what we have. Some stories are very sad and will bring a tear, but they are all happy and keep at it. God bless them. Keep posting and I will try to update. Hope you all will make Arcadia. We will I believe. Keep the dirty side down and stay between the lines. Here are some pictures of ours: |

Cory - this question came up a few weeks ago on the MCI Yahoo board. At the time, I did a quick search on google for a string something like "bus one way decals" or some such thing, and found a couple of good references. A few tries on google and you should be able to find a couple of manufacturers. If not, I'll get off my duff and go look it up on the MCI board for ya! John |

I had forgot too add - Bob Belter is the record holder so far, his post below; ( don't mean to rub it in Bob, I think it is great and hope Larry and I will be able to go when we reach your young age.) Like Gus Haag said: We do not stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing: Gus Haag Minnesota Ho, BusNutsOnly, Good Grief!!!! I hate to be the record holder at 74. I see guys older than me in buses. I'd guess that they are not on the internet, or else won't "confess". My -01 Eagle has been under-work for ~ten years, underway for three years, and Cummins M-11 powered for a year. Holding tanks and interior next. Bob Belter -Eagle -01 Carmel, CA Enjoy/s/bob |

Hi Charlene and friends, It may interest you to know that there is another source for the "We do not stop playing" quote. For a couple of years now it has been going around the Internet. It's the fable about a lady named Rose and it goes something like this: [quote] The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, "Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?" I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze. "Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked. She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, have a couple of children and then retire and travel." "No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age. "I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me. After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized, listening to this 'time machine' as she shared her wisdom and experience with me. Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up. At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said "I'm sorry. I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent, and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know." As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young: Being happy, achieving success, laughing and finding humor every day and you've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die. We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!" "There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up. If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything, I will turn eighty-eight. Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding the opportunity in change." "Have no regrets. The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets." She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose." She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end, Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep. Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be. Remember, Growing older is mandatory, growing up is optional. Author Unknown [end quote] Food for thought... Regards, Ian www.busnut.com |

Great story I@n, Thanks. And Charlene, I met an 80 year old gentleman at an Eagle (I think) bus rally a few years ago. He was still going strong and I hope he still is. Richard |

Yes it was a great story. There are a lot more who just don't want to get involved with this computer stuff as they say. But that's ok, they are busy working. Larry's dad was one who in his 80's did not miss a lick. |

Ian, A great story about "Rose", she definitely shines as an example for the rest of us. I had never read her story, and received the quote from a dear friend that I admired very very much. He died last year at the age of 92, and had spent years in the "bus business". He had the quote on a plaque in his office for as long as I could remember, Now I have that plaque, and it is a priceless treasure to me. Thanks for all that you do to make this medium available to us. Gus Haag |
