Dave I bought two 12 volt fans and mounted them at the top of the windshield. You won't need defrosters often and this serves the purpose.

Dave, my 80 Eagle 10 uses the same core for driver heat and defrost. Manual controls (bowden cables) control dampers that direct the heat to either the windshield or to the floor or anywhere in between. I find that I need both the fans at the top of the windshield and the defroster heat to keep the windshield clear in 30's or below weather. Fans alone do not do it for me. You will just have to chase out the electrical to see where the leads from the fans go. The switches may have been removed along with the other work done.
Richard
