I want to have an oil sample analyzed. Should the motor be warm? I have an Alision MT644 tranny. Is that the same as a 643 only a 4 speed? Rockwell rearend C3181 11 333. What is the ratio? Thanks again!! The 5C goes to paint shop next week. Things are looking up! C Ray |

Concerning the oil analyzes, any heavy duty bulk oil company has a service or contracts with a lab. Castrol Heavy duty lube is one. As long as you are going for the oil have all the fluids checked including the coolant. What you are realy after is a long term history of all the systems. each time you change oil have all the fluides checked and compare to previouse analyzes. |

Ray, I have my oil analyzed by Blackstone Lab in IN. It's a high tech lab, can analyze all fluids andand send the results via email. My 35' Prevost Champ has an MT644. Works fine, 4 speed with lockup in 2nd gear. I think the MT643 is a 3 spd. Allison has a descriptions of all it's trannies on its web site. Rodger |

Addendum: The engine oil sample should be taken at mid pour, immediately after the engine has been warmed up. Rodger |
