Here's some additional trivia relating to this bus: According to my GMC Coach delivery roster, PGA3301-432 was part of an 840-bus order by the US Army - Detroit Ordnance District. They were delivered between September 1951 and April of 1952, or an average of 105 per month. Extrapolating that gives an approximate delivery date for 432 as early January of 1952. RJ is correct. Our first coach was PGA 3301-575. You can see it as Miss Nov 1997 in Bus Conversions or on page 31 of the Sept 2002 issue. We replaced the GMC 503 cu.in. inline 6 engine with a Ford 391 V8 and a 6 speed Allison. A great improvement. It is 34 ft 9 inches long and has dual rear tires. It has a back room baggage compartment like a Flx Clipper. Restoring this one would be a monster project that would cost many times what it would be worth when finished. |
