I am having NO luck with star choice, I have been trying the old fashioned way with a tri-pod but have not been able to get a signal. The first 2 weeks we were gone they admitted it was their fault, this past week it didn't work again. They said send the dish back and they'll refund the money. Well that's not a solution to me. I want service, plus I'm paying for service I'm not getting. It works well at home but I have a different dish for the bus, that is specifically a star choice dish. I have paid them the home away from home money and call in everytime we leave the house so they can change their settings so my bus dish and reciever are compatable. I have set up several sytems so I don't believe I'm missing the signal when setting up. Now I find out that no any old dish will work with star choice. I want to set up an electric one up on the roof. Everyone tells me 3000 dollars for a star choice electric dish. I'm not paying that, not when everyone elses dishes are selling at yard sales 50 bucks. I have thought about buying a dish from the U.S. I'm sure it won't work. The RV dealers tell me that every dish is interchangable with any provider other than star choice. They tell me the RV's coem with star choice dishes. What are you other Candian's doing?? I'm thinking I'm going to get a american address and get direct TV. Pls help. I'm not paying 3000 for a dish. |

Hi Grant I've been using Starchoice for years on the bus, first with a tripod than a converted Winegard crank up dish. It works great, I usually have a signal in less than 5 min. Works great in Arizona or anywhere I've been. I'm using the newer oval dish. Gary |

watch computer videos , it's free , not so repetitive and about as factual, only with original angles on the propaganda, at times. On most U-tube you can even leave a comment, like that inter-active TV they never gave us. -of course the rights are all ready being bought up , to make it more like T.V. so this will only get you buy for a spell, you will still need to get a life ! ... kind of like boon docking in a holiday in parking lot ... |

I've used Starchoice for a number of years as well, from Saskatchewan to Baja Mexico. The dish I use is an older round dish...no HD, but I do use my home HD receiver. I do not have the home away from home stuff.....they have no idea where you are setting up. I do find that if the system is not powered up at the time (usually near end of month) they do their monthly receiver programming, you must either phone for a receiver refresh or go to your StarChoice account via internet and do your own system refresh. I can't remember ever NOT getting the signal, but at times its frustrating as it is difficult to find. As Gary has done, my plan is to mount my starchoice dish to the wineguard manual mount....will save carrying around the extra dish. Good luck....PS...you will also have problems with the US TV systems...been there, done that. |

Hi Guy's, My KVH A-7 takes 7 seconds from power up to my favorite program. Absolutly no fussing trying to search for the birds in the sky... Boy, I hated doing that with my old dome! Good Luck Nick- |

Thanks guys , I have no idea why I can't get a signal on my new oval dish. Makes no sense to me. By the sounds of it I need to keep my eyes open for a KVH A-7. Thanks for the model # that works with star choice Nick. I'm not worried about the HD stuff but it nice to watch news etc with our morning coffee. My local dealer was good enough to refund me the 250 bucks I spent on a dish and tripod. Maybe I won't give up yet and just keep buying dishes at yard sales etc until I find one that works , or take the one of off the house before we leave home, the only thing is the one on the house is one of those big round ones. |

I have SC for 5 years. I have a tripod mount with and oval dish and also Bird on a Wire on my Data Storm Dish on the roof. The BoW works great, as soon as the Data Storm dish finds the internet Sat, SC is lock in to it's Sat. The tripod mounted dish can be fun to lock on a Sat. I've had it lock on in 5 mins, but it has also taken me 3 hrs or more to lock it in to the Sat. Like Jim, I don't have a home away from home. SC knows I have a system on my bus and they don't care where I'm receiving their signal. When I dump Bell Express and told SC I was heading to Mexico they sent me a 1.2 meter oval dish (for free) so I would get a better signal in Mexico ... Bell would have cut me off if they knew I was south of the border. Also SC doesn't block channels like some US providers do. I'd keep trying ... it's a great system for travel, it's one of the few systems that can get a signal south of PV in Mexico. Ron |

personally I will not invest more than " a penny on the dollar" in any satellite receiver/transmitter (boob tube & Internet/cell) until after the de-ionionization process that will occur on "exit" from the galactic plane "threshold" and the sun normalizes. -by which time there will likely be no satellites left to interface with, but there is always communication blimp base relay stations, for the interm period. FWIWTU ... spend you bus bucks your way... |

I had Dish network in the US. Would drive me nuts. Would work fine for a while then move and nothing but problems. Turned out to be a combination of faults. One was an intermitent fault in the LNB. 2nd was a short wire in a connector. I would look and see the copper in the end, looked fine, but it was long enough to make a connection most of the time, but not all the time!!! Try to park by someone with the same system and switching components around ie run your dish wire to thier dish etc. |

this is my planet, oldest living humanoid genes yet described, but your-all welcome to share it too. (although I do occasionally admit to a tad bit of "species denial" myself, tending to relate more to dogs more than humans). >Seems homo sapient can't deal with the reality they infest & have created a mass delusion, which is a really disturbing reality when you focus on the big picture & realize what you-all have the potential to be. < good thing for bus therapy, or I might have subcome to the condition I am trying to remidiate , "the human contion". ~enough to contemplate what it was like trying to save those dinousaurs, me thinks. Thanks for the contemplation gUSC, that is the first step to getting beyond denile... |

gUSC. had a "sleep on it" (know, I was not parked in a holiday inn last night) and found a way to frame the details in bus relevant terms - just for you & anyone else that gives a damn, now or in the future . as many bus conversions rely on said satellite system for GPS navigation aids, Internet uplink, google map recon service and as a source of there entertainment/mass media transmissions ... base on the same sound mathematical uncertainties that was used to cause pause to bill gates master plan for many , many micro satellites to serve the Internet globally is the realization of "critical debris mass" leading to cascading satellite collisions ( too many malfunctioning objects in similar orbits leads to collisions, each collision makes for many more objects than the original colliding object, and so on , until it all falls back to earth, many many years later . having all ready exceeded conservative estimates of this threshold of garbage in orbit, now add in a massive solar storm to induce damage/malfunction in only a few more satellites and you then cross over the "cascading collision threshold" in near earth orbit. ..It may in fact, an most likely will get so cluttered up there, that it would be somewhat impossible to send up "sweepers" to extract the garbage ( think of that andy griffin science fiction where he made a space ship in his junk yard, to the displeasure of the governing bodies, to salvage dead satellites, tune that into your boob tube, if raw science is to bland for your realizations) .. my test on particle beam technology suggest that pulverizing the pieces will not be a option for many , many years after the solar system depolarizes from it's exit out of the highly charge plasma field nicknamed the galactic plain ( it is estimated we "entered" into this region in the mid 1990's, but it depends on from where/how you measure the norm of our solar systems background environment and the influence it has on our sun & it's satellites (of which earth is one). ...Well hope that helps you on your visit to my planet of reality , fellow bus nuts, again thanks for your sharing our commons interest in the survival of bus kind, (nano nano)... p.s. your feedback/constructive criticism on my post are most truly welcome & needed; IF ONLY to refine the entertainment factor, as what is interesting might just be recalled in times of need. |

More stuff in SPACE the muppets should do a thing on that send it in to them Clint it will be great! sad thing is their is a growing junk yard in space and in the seas. "exit out of the highly charge plasma field nicknamed the galactic plain" It is My understanding that the said Plasma field is just more matter in that area of space And has a higher concentration of Gama Rays and Gama Ray Bursts. We hit the center 12-21-2012 at the same time we are at the high end of the Sun spot cycle! so EMP is a big issue But we live in a Metal bus (Faraday cage) The more we stay away from Being on Long Lines (Tel, Ele and the like) the safer we are! A lot of the scare I see is like 2000 scare Well We made it just fine and I think all we have to watch out for is EMP You can get Equipment that blockes EMP as it enters the lines into your bus or home The longer the line the more EMP Make your own power and be safer We have 3 years yet! Some say the world is going to end!!!!!!! LOL We where here 5000+ years ago and we made it then and we will again! The Solor Systen goes through the galactic disk every 5124 years! |

...I have heard many claims of 12-21-2012... = followed the money trail as best I could to hunt down any supporting data. + Well there are many money tails off the main trail, mostly leading to the religious/make-blelieveing fantasy marketeers crowd - there are many others tails with other objectives as a co-pilot, none has lead to substantiating evidence to back up this time-date-stamp of exact mid point ~ as was mention the state of a galaxy is in constant flux (or change)and it be precarious to calculate by conjecture & a complete waist of time by belief & hearsay !!!Again it is a the point where our solar system exits out that a mass discharge event is going to occur, going through is when the "energy potential" is induced, +coming out into a less charge area of "space" is when the "plasma change" conduction occurs (think of a thunder head cloud & the charge effect that precedes the lighting discharge for a very small picture, if this be easier on the "head wrapping", start with this for a "napkin sketch" Well at least we have that common advisory that those-all "reganites" have been working so hard to create "for unification purposes", now we-all may go forth; stimulate our economys with something sustainable ye all ! ~~~When were-all done , we-all shall understand the basics of migrating to other worlds, in the name of survival of the species (think star trek)~~~ |

Clint, There was nothing critical in my post, it was tongue-in-cheek. If I had understood the post I responded to I may have been able to say something constructive! I find your posts quite enjoyable and when I do understand some of them I worry! However, being a bit different is a good thing, the last thing I want to be is like all the rest!! ON the other hand, I don't know how much we are posting about buses? I had heard it was 12-12-2012, but that is a minor difference! At my age I don't worry much about plasma or space deterioration, my internal deterioration is my main concern. We're going to be in Seattle in about a week so maybe we'll be inside your force field! |

exactly the way i took it gusC, maybe I should of inserted a smiley face like my pal old chucky , to avoid misunderstanding. There is rarely a moment when I am not trying to be seriously funny. Haha bus on friends... may your skin become as thick as mine when you need it, if not your nogin too. ~not a bad idea, that force field one, maybe we could field it to barac for some economic stimulus funding, at least none would like be injured with such efforts... ha ha but I wouldn't mind the odd insult if it isn't to much to ask, kind of make me feel a bit more human... hahaha even the most painful of truths should have a light side , keeps us all younger |
