Well, not being fo sound mind and body, it looks like I am going to buy another bus. My "conversion" of my MCI5 has been going nowhere, so it looks like a GM4107 is in my immediate future. It does not have an awning and that is a requirement by the Admiral of my fleet (xyl, better half, yin to my yang). So my question is what brand and how tough is the installation, cheapest source or any good info I can gather as this will need to happen before she is really thrilled with this new project. Yes, I have this question on my backburner, too. It seems that my Management wants the same thing and I'm not nearly stupid enough to get into this bus conversion thing and not keep The Management happy! |

We purchased a used ZipDee from Bob's RV Salvage in High Springs, FL. Although it is a pre '88 model, it still works as good as when new. I would check surplus & salvage sources for the best prices. Jack And yes, just remember, "If Momma Ain't Happy..... |

Thanks, Jack, that says a lot about ZipDee's if a 21 year old one is still in good shape. That's good info. |

Ron The Bus Nut is a good source for take off Zip Dee Awning some days he is a little short on the arms. His prices are not bad 200 bucks for arms and 20 bucks a foot for the awning roller and fabric good luck |

I just installed a used 21 foot Zip Dee patio awning and really like it. Got some parts from Clifford and Zip Dee, got brave and drilled some holes in the aluminum siding and roof and tipped it up into place. I must say Clifford sure knows how to install one, as I followed his directions and it was fairly easy. My next step is to find some Zip Dee window awnings, when I can find some used ones at a reasonable cost. |

Hi John, I also think Zip Dee is the best awning for GM's because they make the strongest curved arms that match GM's curved roof very well. This is comming from a A&E dealer too... I still prefer my A&E LA03 lateral arm automatic awning on my bus over anything else but, high $$. Good Luck Nick- |

John I put a 22' a&e 9000 made for curved airstream camper on 4905 and found a number of 9000 window awnings for all of my windows. Works great for not a lot of money. Took awhile to get the colors I needed. Mike |

Thanks guys, all good suggestions. I am not sure if I need curved arms or straight as its pretty straight right up to the rail then its got the curved gm roof. I'm sure it would be exactly the same as a 4905 just a little shorter. |

On our Eagle the Z lock rail is 8" above the drip rail. I have straight arms, really could use the bent ones as it puts the arms pretty close to the drip rail. The awning however is above the side marker light, just barely. HTH, Paul |

... never have enough bus-i, or enough places for them to sleep... not unlike tools ~now who is going to be the first to create a solar collecting "photo voltaic cell awning. <Park the bus in the shade with the awining folded out into the shine, just like the old sky lab (ok they didn't realy think of it first, but some one has to take the blame (was like that when I got here). -not able to recomend those UNI_SOLAR flexable PVC "shingle rolls" yet, as I have no idea if they are flexable enough to be rolled & unrolled more than once. Perhaps someone else on this "nutty bus" has first hand experiecne of test data . They do well in high heat, so it is feasalbe to incoporate a second layer air-to-air heat exchanger for cold days and water tubing for free hot water. ...Almond (some like these nuts best, kind of a brain stimulent, or so I was told)... (just for you RbeeC, from the central scrutinizer) |
