I had a leak in my coolant line when I purchased my bus... I repaired the leak, but now have to add coolant... I bought 6 gallons of FLEET CHARGE brand coolant for diesel motors, and added 6 gallons of distilled water to it to dilute... I am checking the level marker between the radiators, and still no sign of enough... how much is the total fluid capacity of my motor? Thank you! |

if you overfill , after bleeding the air out, just drain some off with on of the bleed screws (the thermostat housing makes a good location on the 8V71, {just stick a hose on right-back into your jug}) -until the level in the sight glass (middle of the coolant reservoir)is half way and your done, I use a blue led flashlight to see through the dirty sight glass (as coolant shows up well in blue "monochromatic" light as does diesel}). Just don't get your arm caught in the blower belt , if your dangerous enough to do this while the "jimmie is roaring". ...keep on safe bus wrenching; cool-ly... |

I can tell you My mc5a is 52 gal. I believe the 9 has more and I think the 102 is the same as the 9. You have coolant going all the way to the fount of the coach. |

and who knows what aftermarket modifications have been done on these old dogs, so factory specs. are just a rule of dumb, those "four bolts" are always the final word in a adequate repair. |

Re: "how much is the total fluid capacity of my motor?" Keep in mind, that you're not just filling the engine, you have to fill and bleed the entire system, front to rear. http://www.fantiques.com/web_rental_1-22-09/1549/bus_info/ |
