to Geoff and all of you who helped me make my decision.
I found 9F80 injectors in the engine. We changed them to 9F90's added a "Jake Break" while the top was apart. The "Jake" and rack were adjusted by the best guy around and the early reports are very good.
We traveled from Hampton Roads,VA to Ocracoke Island, NC and back over TG weekend. The difference is night and day. Good pick up from standing start and good passing ability on the 2 lanes by pulling it down a gear and flooring it.
We will be at Bussin' 2003 then off to Tx to visit with a daughter. But that is still not much of a test. We have family in Ohio who we visit with a couple of time a year. During that trip we have to deal with the mountains of VA and WV. A couple of long 6% pulls. So look for a further up date around the middle of July.
We changed the bearings, rods and mains at the same time. They were all standard and showed positivly no wear. I have only good things to say about ABC. I have delt with them several times and always got an honost count.
Thanks to all
Alan Baker

Beckley, West Virginia on I-64 is a 7% grade for over five miles. Oh what fun it isn't. Until I drove the road Alan is talking about, I thought Afton Mountain, VIrginia I-64 at mile marker 100 was a mountain. It is only a speed bump compaired to Beckley. Even Donner Pass I-80 was easier! Good Luck Alan & GOD Speed!

Don't worry about I-77 past Beckley, since I do it regularly in the How Far? (4905/4spd/8V71) on a regular basis. You newbies shouldn't let this kind of thing worry you. Ive had my old boat thru the Adirondaks of Eastern PA. The tall hills of I-77, I-75,and I-65. Donner Pass, The Grapevine on NV 95, up I-15 thru Salt Lake, Utah 9 (thru Zion Park) I-84 out of Boise, across WY on I-80 and the Great Basin, thru Rock Spings, up Old U.S. 26 to Mt. Hood, I-90 thru Snoqualmie Pass east of Seattle, and across The Caloosahatchee Bridge in Fort Myers, FL. Amost 20,000 miles in 37 states in the last three years. So guys, DON'T let the talk of hills or mountains scare you out of a trip. Just can't pass with the 'vettes is all! Go git 'um. Cheers...JJ

JJ is right , after all these coaches went everywhere in the US ,BEFORE the slabs were everywhere.

My 06 is even happier cruising on the "blue roads " where frequent brakeing , shifting & lots of steering is the norm.
Does OK at flank on the slab , but that only grinds up miles , doesn't let you see anything of note , or stop at any neat places.
