We have an ex VIP bus and floorplan. A rear kitchen/bath combined with a wall and door closing off the driver. I finally got around to loosing the wall behind the driver. I recycled the wood into 2 coffee tables. The walls were 1in plywood and they are now the tops The beveled mirrors are also recycled from the original conversion. We used butterfly maple burl it was 140 bucks for a 4 by 8 sheet and we first routered the edge then used black laquer on the edges then clear laquer over everything. Not too bad for a grease monkey.

yes that is nice .but to much data for burn on DVD archives, but a link to the page with splendid wood work pictures would fit the storage medium. .nice work indeed. |

Just keep on posting pictures no matter what, it's easier and besides I like looking at them! I would post a picture but I do not like the way this forum works, too much work for me. Paul (Message edited by dreamscape on August 23, 2009) |

Hmmmmmmmm. First, thank you for the compliments. I do not want to post incorrectly and I do not know how to do it the other way suggested. I can either stop the pics or someone needs to help and teach me how to make that link thingy or maybe the webmaster can chime in and give us some clarification. |

You did not post incorrectly, if it wasn't allowed the feature would not be available. Just keep posting the same way you are doing. At least you take the time to learn how. I have looked at the method, it's not easy. Other forums you just copy and past the code, you can't do that here. |

O/K I think I waited long enough for Ean to respond if my photos were bad so here are a few more. When we bought the burl veener for the table tops they also had metal laminates, cool stuff, cuts and glues up just like formica. If you ever wondered what converters use for what looks like mirror on the ceiling and also wondered about expansion and contraction this is the answer. They have both mirror and smoked mirror. We are in Chicago and when I suggested they migh call on Liberty who builds their conversions here they told me Liberty was already a coustomer. These samples in the picture below are laying on a night stand next to the bed that I was also able to construct from the walls I removed. We are looking for something other than mirror on the center upper section of the ceiling and they have some very nice and unique stuff. I am also showing you a better shot of the table I built behind the pass. seat and a photo of the flooring sample we are thinking looks good, hickory. Sitting on the floor sample is a sample of the Brazilian Cherry that is around all the windows and the maple tops we just finished. Never thought we would have 3 different species of wood but they look good togeather and I think if we used cherry on the floor to match the windows would make the interior just too dark. Add the darker tone of the wicker furnature and there is 4 completly different wood tones.

Hi Joe & Debbie, Stunning. I love the burl on the maple. I dunno about the floor. If your walls have the final finish on them, they appear quite light or even white, therefore I don't think the cherry floor would make the bus seem too dark. That's just me, though. My wife would make those decisions, so I'd be off the hook, so to speak!! Lighting looks great, too. Beautiful. Nice finishing work, as well. I really like the multi level multiple sized pieces. This provides spectacular visual interest. By the way, you're doing just fine on the picture uploads. For a much much simpler way to do this, why not everyone watching this thread join the BNO Facebook feature where you can have your own page, share with whomever you want and post multiple pictures as easily as a click of the mouse. I've just sent an email to everyone in this thread so that you can join. Great work. Thank you for sharing. Great photos to "steal" some ideas from!! Ian www.busnut.com |

Thanks. If you did not notice look closer at the photo of the passenger side tables and next to the passenger seat down by the floor there is a grate. That front 1/3 of that set of tables is covering my front cruisair unit it is mounted on the floor. Then the mirrors are the front of the duct that pushes the cold air up to the ceiling. That all used to be the back of a closet behind the passanger seat. When I first started this project I had no clue how I would deal with all that but I finally spent enough time looking at it to come up with what I ended up with. I will go see this link thingy you refered to and see if I can do it. |

...I certainly do like "your way of doing it, mrs. & mr. CAMPER ... -just check the 2 options (enable HTML code in message )& (Automatically activate URLs in message) and any links you copy or web sites you type into the thread should work .These otions are located right below your username & password, when you make a posting . I think/guess that is all I had to do to make that feature function. + now if I could just get this intuitive computer thingy to copy pictures into the thread, I could give myself a good rattle too; for being data extravagant. (Dog riding bus, dogs fixing bus, dogs peeing on bus tire, dogs sleeping in bus, dogs laughing from the bus window while taking pictures of me throwing the tools about while scolding bus, etc. etc.) >Personally I would prefer to raise enough cash for BNO to own its own server, satellite interconnect (all mounted in a EMP resistant bus, off course) that was so massive we could post everything, including lots of pictures and the kitchen sink. Kind of like "air america" now there was a mobile communication platform for the age. ` ~But that is just "my way" not the only way, & we are all encorage to do it "our ways" here (can anyone say "virtual cyber-spaced ultra-mega computer") |

Joe, you can usually get a "photo-site" account for free (although You'll have to look at ads). Check out www.photobucket.com and similar sites (I think that there's one on Google, too). Then you can upload all the pictures you want, put them in "albums", and all you have to do on this forum is post a link. That works pretty good - you may want to look into it. Oh, and great work! Good concepts, smart thinking, and nice handiwork. (Message edited by oonrahnjay on August 26, 2009) |

Tim I got it from a supplier who does not sell to the general public but on the back of the samples this information is listed Chemetal 1-800-807-7341 If the manufacturer also will not deal with the general public and you see something you really have to have I will be happy to help you purchase it thru our corp. A federal ID#, that is what it will take. Just let me know. Metal laminate is what you are inquiring about. |
