The paint on this MCI is only 6 years old and it has lost all its gloss. Maybe it went through a truck wash with the acid spray on. Can it be polished back to a good shine or should I plan for a new paint job? |

Can you find out who painted it and what brand/type of paint was used? |

I would try some red or white(finer) polishing compound, available at any auto parts store in the polsh/wax department, by hand in a small inconspicuous spot to see what happens (Message edited by JackConrad on August 25, 2009) |

Perfect-it 3000 extra cut compound by 3M with a sponge buffer will do the job for cost about 40 bucks a qt |

1. Strip any wax. 2. Polish it with "Compound" - there are several grades, pick the one that you need, or try several steps using a finer grade (grit size) each time. On such a big job it will pay you to discover the one which gives the best result. 3. It might be cheaper by the gallon. 4. Wax it when you're done. |
