We have a 1958 Kassbohrer Golden Eagle with the six piece winshield ( four small )above main windsheld. that the steel frame is rusted, they are repairable but I am wondering if a new cap is in order or if I should keep the classic look. Thanks for your help, Ron ron@roadsideministries.com |

That one I would not cap. The look of the six piece windshield is definitely classic. Did you buy the one listed on the bus for sale section of this site? |

I agree with Jojo, leave the clasics alone. I drive a buffalo and almost cry when I see one that has been caped... if you want that look, buy one and be done with it. Peter |

I have a 1966 Eagle-01 that has the single set of "eyebrow" windows above the windshield. We decided to keep the classic look and not cap the bus. The headroom inside was good as-is, so we saved the money that a roofraise would have cost[ $5-8000]and put it into other things. I just like the look of the early Eagles. As time goes on, theres less on the road, Just my opinion. |

I am from the don't cap school. I think it is ashame to ruin the lines of a good clasic coach, especially when you ad conflicting lines......ie: angles and staight lines don't look good on GM's in my opinion.... I too cringe every time I see a caped older coach. |

I like the classic older cruser look as well, but I couldn't keep it. I have a 66 O-1 and it made more sense for me to cap front and back. The tail lights where already converted to a model 10 when I bought it, so it did look better in my most humble opinion. By cutting out the top two leaky cracked windows and the top front section, It gave me room for my TV, and misc. electronics. It also tighten up everything. If it had been in real good shape , and all original to begin with, I might not have capped it. If your coach is the one with four windows on top of the windshields, Then it is very rare to have one all original and complete. Who knows, maybe you can get it in a movie sometime. Then we could call you "The original Famous Ron." Just kidding. I think caps are usually best on Eagles, not GM's and certain MCI's. Once again, my most humble opionion. Ron R. |

Hey, Joe, wished you still lived here in lower MO. I would relieve you of the rear cap and wouldn't even charge you anything for me hauling it away. I hate the eyebrow on the rear of an 06. I love the rest and would never cap the front. The 4104, on the other hand, has the best looking bus butt in busville. |

I have a 4106 with frnt & rear caps. wish I didn't. I'm even considering removing them. " BRWARE , if the rear glass is gone its VERY VERY hard & $$$ to come by. On The "Sports Car of Coachs" , frequently the only reason for the ugly cap is its loads cheaper than a rear set of glass. FAST FRED |

On Previous Post I said I had a 66 O-1, I have a 62 O-1. Must have had a quick brain freeze or something. |

There was an O1 eagle at Bus'n 2002 or 2001 that was capped but the cap was exactly the same as the original except that the upper set back windshield area was blanked. Even had the shape of the raised destination sign done in fiberglass. The effect was wonderful. Original lines but as a conversion, not a bus. May have been the most beautiful bus I have ever seen. I agree, leave the classic lines alone, but maybe you don't need to retain all the glass if it does not fit your design needs. |
