Hey everyone... Just wanted to pop in for a moment and let ya'll know I'm still here and kicking... Just been down and out for a while. Still no money from insurance, so... The bus project is at a complete standstill. I just wanted to thank everyone again that sent donations... They helped a lot in the first few weeks after the disaster.... Some of you sent parts instead... Which is also greatly appreciated! A lot of work is still to come... And, unfortunately, my health has taken a few bumps in the road since the fire... I've pretty much been under the roof since it happened... But, such is life sometimes. Some of you have emailed asking if we're still alive, what the progress is, if there are any updates, etc... There is some progress, but not on the bus. The house has been partially rebuilt. The old structure was a complete total loss. Nothing was salvaged, not even the outside brick. It was permeated throughout and the damage was too extensive... So, they trashed it all and started from a bare slab. The base structure is in place, walls have been moved, little things that annoyed my parents about the house have been changed for the rebuild. It's actually going quite fast and from what I understand... the new house should be completed in about 3 to 4 months time from now. We'll see how it goes. After that, it's anybody's guess as to what will happen with the bus.. I'm still holding out hope for salvaging her... But the money problems are proving to be impossible to overcome at the moment... But, I'm not going to give up without a fight... So, when something new happens, I'll post an update. Until then... I'll just stay in the background and rest. It's been a very trying year. Again, thanks to everyone... You've all shown just what this community is capable of and how you're all so much more than any modern "neighborhood" can even hope to be... It's too bad the rest of the world can't be like this community... It'd be such a better place. -Mac / Kevin |

Yes, you need a fierce, alert watchdog like mine to guard your bus! |

hating to be the devils advocate , but you could do with a bit bigger stuffed chair for the dog, maybe a little higher (or lower the shelf): ...Ergonomics being rater critical when pulling those long "dog watches"; but if that is not in the budget, perhaps a good 5 minute neck'n'ear'n'spine massage upon returning home every time would suffice during the in term... |

^.^ Hey guys... First up, Koko and Kit are doing fine... (Koko is the pooch, Kit's the cat.) Second up... Sigh. It looks like I'm not going to get much of anything from the insurance payout... Certainly not enough to get this old 4905 back and rolling again... AND livable. So, my options at this point are pretty limited. I might get enough to replace her with something fairly cheap.... Maybe $5k or less. Any of you know of any buses around that price and (at least) 40ft in length (and that don't bend in the middle! ? I need the extra space (for the animals, of course!)... So anything under 40ft won't be of any use to me. I'll check back over the next couple days to see if anyone has something... -Mac / Kevin (Message edited by 91flyer on September 15, 2009) |
