I have a 1977 MC8, with the original "power assist" steering box. I am changing to a box from a MC9 (I believe a "Sheppard". I purchased the mounting plate kit from Sam Caylor, and it looks like it shouldn't be to hard to do...... Question: what if anything do I need to do to the power steering pump....less pressure....more pressure...do nothing?

Thanks Joe

...do change filter and flush fluid while your in there, even if just to run a gallon through to where you disconnect the old and change/clean the filter , and catch what flows out (under very dangerous pressure if you start the engine for a few seconds with the system open to power flush)...

.there was a good article on this modification somewhere amongst BNO non-forum, if you look for it of the main page. Might have been fred hobbes who authored it. Don't recall anything about needed a pressure modification when he installed a sheperd integrel steering box from a "cornbinder"

Many hydraulic systems have a filter in the low pressure return line.

Might make sense as there sure cheap enough insurance.

However our Sportscar is manual and the new VL is Air O Matic , so I dont know id there IS a low pressure return.
