Trying to think out the water flow from the motor to the transmission cooler. The pictures 1 and 2 is the water flow of the motor on a 8V71 gm bus motor. I would think it flows that way. The transmission to cooler PDF files shows the water pump end as a return and receiving from the block. It shows the arrows going towards the water pump, Thinking that would be the return. Only the water cooling part not the transmission lines. Is this true that the water pump is the return? |

The pic shows the water going to the inlet or low side of the water pump and going to the cooler on the high side or presser side some where on the water jacket on the engine. I would think as close to the Pump as you can get. The Water pump pulls the coolant through works better that way! I'm sure someone who knows more can explain it better! Rob |

8v71 on a MC 8 has pluming just ahead of the starter for a optiional coolant filter, that might prove a convenient hook-up ports if someone has one and can tell you were it is piped in, I assume the coolant filter had good flow rate. ~Ideally, you need to tap cooled coolant/antifreeze returning form the radiator bottom, ideally for maximum oil cooling capacity to your cooler. Make certain your not taking coolant flow from a point , or returning it to the engine in a way that will not disrupt or reduce its cooling needs, Y's with the flow "up" are less turbulent & disruptive than T-ing into a flow at right angles. |
