Hey Fred, there is a 55 Flex with an auto trans on Ebay for sale, maybe you could get some info on the rear end ratio and she runs for him.

THANKS! I will take a look , but I think each engine -tranny/OD combo will need to be optomized as a package.

Now planning on 1300rpm at 70mph in OD as target.

FF- hope that 1300rpm is not with a two stroke engine-too low for any power. If it is a none turbo, 1600rpm should be the lowest cruise speed. If it is turbo'd, 1400rpm should be the lowest. It sounds good on paper, but I think you'll be disappointed in the performance and ultimately not go into overdrive much with that gearing. Good Luck, TomC

Looking at a 3.07 rear ,DD series 50 and 31 psi turbo boost, ZF HD 600 5 speed with .84OD.

The 4 strokes love low RPM for fuel economy.

So far this coach has had a 2 stroke 6cyl, a 4 stroke 8 cyl , and now a 4 stroke 4 cyl engine.

I wouldn't go below 336 from looking at the approx numbers if you are going to pull a trailer. direct: 46@1100, 50@1200, 54@1300, 58@1400, 62@1500. Overdrive: 54@1100, 59@1200, 64@1300, 69@1400, 74@1500. This is with a 1200x22.5 of average dia. of 42.7" and 485 revs. Your results may vary. Here is a calculator; although you probably have one.

Thats a great calculator .

I found some free aluminum wheels , so a set of super singles is out , so low profile ,low rolling resistance 11R 22.5 will be the best chance at breaking 15MPG. The DREAM!

I'm sure it can be done , the big question is at 45mph or 75 mph?

BY spring we will see.
