Last thursday the sticks and staples caught fire under suspicious circumstances in the Walmart parking lot in west Edmonton causing also heavy damage to the Marathon XL. Both owners were absent at the time of the fire. Being investigated by the E.F.D. This is worse than having a bad day. Joe.

That is not acceptal at all. gee whiz. That goes to show you what sticks and staples can do in comparing to a COACH. I am sorry for both owners and mostly no one was hurt. gomer |

it's as if the "stick & staples" may have felt so inadequately built that it commit suicide out of feeling envy towards the bus conversion parked next to it; a murder suicide/self-esteem thingy perhaps ? ...does kind of looks like the bus got sort of hurt, poor bus, but perhaps "heal-able up-able" with enough love , hard work & money, much like the fifth element, you could rebuild a bus from its VIN tag... |

It's like reliving a nightmare. x.x Having pretty much this exact thing happen... I know how the owner of the bus felt when he saw what happened. -Mac |

but once the bus is restored, the nightmare has a happy memory to be recalled at will, along side the tramatic ones that need closure. ...this is often how our minds may be worked, IF ONLY one creates the will & developes such awareness first...bus nuts or not ! |

Well we will certainly be leaving more than 1 space between ourselves & the next RV in the future. At WalMart it is our practice to park way out at the edge across about 5 of the never used car spaces mostly because if we park in a "pull through" row, (two spaces end to end) we hang out each end even without the toad. But at rest areas & truck stops we often park next to another. Gonna be more careful in the future. |

I've parked at Walmarts numerous times. I always like to park away from everyone in furthest corner of the lot. But-it always seems someone wants to park right next to me when the rest of the parking lot is empty. What is it with people that like to be like Lemmings? Personally, I like to stay away from S&S's as much as possible-most don't know what they're doing. Good Luck, TomC |

I know of two stick and staples that spontaneously combusted in their barns. Burned barns down also. |

Wonder how many of "US"...were (are) S&S owners? I, for one, owned an Executive Motor Home, a 5th wheel Prowler, a tow behind Prowler. There is no question that I prefer what I now have...hands down... ...SO, folks, be kind to the S&S owners...chances are. U WAZ 1...ONCE...; as for what is stated above, well. sometimes I question that I "know what I am doing"... Anyway, I am certainly happy that the Bus Conversion Community is "elite, exclusive and well educated"... I'm gald I R 1......aren't U? FWIW, RCB |

Chances are very good the Marathon Prevost will be totalled by the insurance company. A fire hot enough to blow out the windows more than likely warped the steel, too. Might make a good parts bus for the running gear? Perhaps Joe can dig up some more info, owner, etc.? FWIW & HTH. . .

Like Jim we always try to park as far away from everyone, including RVs, as we can get, mostly for privacy and peace and quiet. I hate to park anywhere near RVs with barking dogs. Why do pet owners never seem to hear dogs barking in the middle of the night?? Never did understand the "pack" mentality" of RV owners, boaters seem to do the same thing?? Never gave much thought to fires, autos can burn as well as RVs but they won't make as big a fire. I doubt the S&S owner burned it just to wound the bus!! I'm not sure how stupidity enters into this? |

Motorhome catches fire in Wal-Mart parking lot Updated: Wed Sep. 09 2009 17:39:47 A motorhome was destroyed by a massive fire Wednesday afternoon after the owner was cooking lobster on his propane stove and stepped away for several minutes. The motorhome was parked at the Wal-Mart on Stony Plain Road when it caught fire around 1 p.m. The vehicle's owner Emerson Rose said he stepped away for a few moments and when he returned the motorhome was in flames. "I just cooked some lobsters there and I was going to do some laundry and I come back for my dirty clothes and it was gone up," he said. There were no reported injuries but a bus parked next to the motorhome received extensive damage. Rose said he had just purchased the motorhome and was on his way to Fort McMurray, where he planned to live out of the RV while he worked. The devastating blaze has left him homeless and at a loss as to what his next turn will be. Fire investigators are still trying to determine the exact cause of the fire and tally up the damage. ~perhaps the human than was operating the S&S got lucky, FortMac is already cold this time of year, way colder in the winter, you would need to park the rv under hay bails to survive & lots of heaters. I still suspect the S&S spontaneous combustion was out of envy towards the bus conversion, that & redundancy is why I park my old Winnebago far from the just as old MC 8. |
