I would like to paint the storage compartments on my MC5a. Wondering if anyone has information on the type of paint that should be used.

Mine don't need it yet but when it does I was thinking of using a one part epoxy paint I have used in the past for painting bilges and anchor lockers. Nice and durable and easy to apply. It was a west marine brand paint

I used grey spray enamel - Tremclad to paint the bulkheads, underside of the tunnel and underside of the floor. Much of what I painted was aluminum or plywood, but this paint adheres well, provides good coverage and gives a nice finish. I didn't paint the floor. When I do that I may use a truck bed liner.

FWIW

I did a rehab on the inside of one of my bays. I put in a plywood floor covered with a gray indoor/outdoor carpet. For the inside walls and inside of the door, I used Rustoleum spray paint. I initially tried their color "Aluminum" thinking that would be a close match to the outside on my 4104 body. I did not like it, and thought it was too bright. Then I tried their color called "Stainless" and was very pleased with the result.

Hi Ken,

I sprayed all my bays with industrial solid color gloss "BattelShip Gray" Urathane. It is really hard as nails and great for aluminum.
After my conversion was complete, I ended up covering the floors and walls with gray marine carpet.
The urathane is visible around the bay door jams and is a nice transition from where the carprt ends.

I just went to Lowes - Looked for the most expensive brand of exterior paint that was returned - they sell them for $5 a gallon

My bays are now a pretty shade of PLUM !!

Some of the automotive trunk splatter paint can leave a nice finish. Indoor-outdoor on the floor is nice to have on, at least, some of them for storing the items you don't want skinned or banged up. Probably will make the coach slightly quieter, although I doubt you can measure the difference.

My original plywood floor got replaced with new plywood. I treated the backside with surplus two part epoxy paint from a local supplier. They had many half used cans of hardener and resin they sold at discount.

This might be an option for painting bays. My bays are in excellent condition so no plans to paint.
