RJ, you seem to have a bunch of histories. Just for fun, what's the story with 4104 numbers 0001 & 4104, & 4106 number 0001 & 4106?

Johnny -

If you're asking for the history of the first production model off the assembly line for both the 4104 and the 4106, the info is as follows:

PD4104-001: GM Coach Sales (Demo), transferred to GM Overseas Operations - Mexico in April of 1953. (All sales of coaches outside the US were handled by GMOO.)

PD4106-001: GM Engineering. Sold in February of 1962 to Yellow Equipment & Terminals (Yellow Transit Freight Lines) of Indianapolis, IN. Actually built in late 1960.

And before you ask, PD4501-001, the first Scenicruiser, was and still is owned by Greyhound. It's the pride of their historic fleet. . .

RJ, was there a PD4104, SN 4104? the same for the 4501 and 4106. If so, they would really be an interesting conversation piece.

Only the 4104 -

PD4104-4104: Delivered new in July of 1959 via GM - Canada as fleet number A032 to Colonial Coach Company of Montreal, PQ.

There were only 3,226 of the 4106s and 1,001 of the 4501s built, so, unfortunately, no double-VINs.

Seems to me I just answered the delivery question for PD4104-4104 on the GMC bbs just a few weeks ago, so it must still be around. . . That double-VIN does make it sort of a unique conversation piece.

Johnny - You're guess is as good as anyone else's. . . I certainly don't know.

As you can see, PD4104-4104 is still out there - Thanks for posting your info, Bud - that's the kind of trivia that keeps this hobby interesting!!

One thing of interest that came with my old gal is solid brass hubometor manufacture in 1956 by Veeder Root Inc. Hartford Conn It appears to work OK but the glass has moisture behind it Have not figured out yet how to take it apart Anyone know anything about them

Bud - Don't think I've ever seen a hubodometer that at some point didn't have condensation behind the glass. . .

Since the thing works, maybe you DON'T want to take it apart??? Maybe just park it so the sun evaporates the moisture. . .

Hi Guys:
For those interested in GM trivia, I believe there was only one other occurance of a model number also having a similar VIN.
It was a 40 ft. transit model delivered in 1967 to MABSTOA in NYC.
It Was: TDH5303-5303, Bus no. 8513.

Now doesn't that just make your day??????
You won't find this important stuff in Ripley's Believe it or Not!!!!!
Happy Bussin All!!!!!
