Anyone been in Elkhart,Indiana recently? Curious as to whether there might be a great increase of low cost RV components because of the current RV demand implosion.

good economics question LB, Country Coach seems to have emerged from bankruptcy on my last surf, with a rearrangement of affiliate dealerships; just not sure how or with whom yet. I would not like to see the loss of even one RV manufacture, we need much more of this type of disposable income economic stimulus, perhaps getting people out into the world is exactly the stimuli our society needs to wake the up some more and discover better ways.

- now if your asking the "slide out glutton" in me what is wrong with country coach in 2010, they have suspended the rapshody model and that was there only model with outboard air bags on the drive. But I don't think that was what your asking, so I won't whine on...

..."it's a good thing" if they follow our good examples , it also means more facilities will be available for everyone concerned ??? Why if it was a toss up between the mitlitary industrial complex, the banksteers/stockateers and the rv industry getting the current five year old's future tax dollar, I think we know who should get the coparate welfare for the least potential to harm done to john Q public for his tax dime.

When times are booming the RV mfg get really optomistic on how much merch the can move , so they will over order on slow to get parts.

As the Fanny & Freddy engineered collapse has been going on for a year or more , I doubt they have been over ordering.

There might still be piles of goodies , but like "War Surplus" , i fear the supply is drying up.

John
I was there in May. There are overstocks to be sure but they are slected areas. Like appliances, furniture, lighting, and electronics. I found some good prices, they were willing to very aggressively bargin, case in point a sofa marked $799, I bought for $150, but I wouldn't say everything was a steal. Not sure what has happened since May.

I was there in June and only tried Bontagners, and RV Surplus. If you know prices there are some bargains to be had.

I went up there to buy a Refer, Stove, Tanks, Couch, Dinette, etc. The savings more than paid for the trip, and was much less than what shipping would have cost.

My advise would be shop around, know your products and prices. I found remarkable difference in prices on certain items between different stores.
