John -

As you have already found out over on the GMC BusNuts board, what you're asking is not the correct way to adjust the ride height.

Every one of us out here with a 4104 or 4106 is going to give you a different answer to the way you want to check it because we all are running different diameter tires, which will affect the top-of-wheelwell-to-ground measurement. And if our (or your) bus isn't sitting quite level, that too will affect the measurements.

Granted, it will give you an average, which may or may not suit your purpose until you can set it properly per da book.

BTW, for a quick check, from the ground to the tread portion of the lower entrance step at the front door, the height should be 14 - 13/16" for your 4104. Or round it off to the 4106's spec, which is 15". Put a bubble level on the step, and you should be able to figure out where adjustments are needed - AFTER you set the front ride height.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi John,
I'm sure RJ is right, but you can also confirm with Luke as to the proper height from rubber bump stop. He also has the numbers and correct proceedures for this.

Thank you RJ and Larry, My problem is I never took the measurments before I disconnected the old automatic system.Measuring the bump stops while trying to get the best ride is neally impossible while on a 3000 mile trip( the bump stops are behind the tyres and require crawling underneath,) In order to eliminate having to block the coach It would be easeir to measure from the outside....
Thanks for your input

Get a long stick and and nail a 3 inch piece on the end & you can see how close you are to proper hight from outside the coach.

Just reach across from side opposite , and eyeball what you need.

USE the measurement for clearence + the bumper hight if bumper is old or crushed, and measure from frame structure.
